Third Organic Grow With Auto NL and Auto Stardawg

  1. Yeah I’ve never paid attention to VPD either. I just started learning about it. Because they’re autos they’re going to take time to recover from being fried. A lot of my plants started flowering at three weeks. So short veg time. As fast as they grow even a day makes a difference. How old and big were yours that got fried? They’re obviously happy with their light right now. They’ve never had any stretching and no light burn. I don’t know if my Viparspectra full spectrum light is a blurple or not but it’s great for veg. Maybe I’ll just keep them under there until later in veg. I dunno. Do you use a luxe meter?

I don’t think transplanting slows growth if done right. They usually are happy with their new home with some nice well fed soil. That’s been my experience with a lot of plants that I grow. The exception is herbs. I’m transplanting today. I was going to use my recycled soil but I’m going to mix fresh soil.

  2. I’ve burned them at about 2-3 weeks, and another round at nearly 5 weeks. After every stage my count resets. So like, after seedling it out for 2-4 weeks depending on if I hit them with too much water smh (I’ve had 3 node plants on pause for nearly four weeks, those ended up being my first burnt). So in reality they were aged, just underdeveloped. Then starting veg I start my count at week one. This go round the plants were at 6 weeks (2 seed, 4 vegging) before they saw the light lol. This time I only had two burn up. None have died, just burnt the leaves up well enough in a matter of minutes that it looked like an advanced deficiency. And yes, I use a luxe meter. Dr meter or dr lux or whatever. My lights are pumping around 150w each. What’s up?

  3. Wow that’s pretty quick to burn. Remind me which qb lights you have? Now I’m not so sure about putting them under the QBs today. Maybe very dimmed and high to start? Have you had any burned with 50% dimming and higher distance? My tent is only 63 inches tall so I’ll only have so much space once they’re in five gallon pots.

  4. I’m talking about my qb 96’s. As for how high and how much they were dimmed, they weren't dimmed at all. Me watching them burn happened when I was moving them in from the veg tents. Light height, I can accurately say. I'd moved some that were close to finishing out, had maybe 18-24 inches above those. so bringing the youngins in, so hell, I can't even call it fr. The reason I say I can't call it is because I just now took measurements and I'm at 40 inches from canopy @ 80% power and I've moved way too much since, my bad. You'd gotten the 96's right? how much power?

  5. I have the hlg-185h54a driver. I can see how the qb96 would burn young plants. They’re so freaking bright. I’ve accidentally looked at them before and felt like I did some permanent eye damage. They packed a lot of punch into such a small light. Someone told me that two QB96’s on two plants wouldn’t work good and recommended getting lights that were around 350-400. Even though I just got these lights. I think some people think everyone has endless funds for growing and if you don’t spend a lot more money you might as well quit or you’re not taking advice or you’re not serious about growing. I really don’t like hearing people say they’re not serious about growing and won’t be successful if they don’t spend a lot of money they don’t have.

But I’m glad I got the qb96’s because I want more for sharing. My SD are pretty dense and I didn’t even use the QBs the whole time. It’s pretty strong so far even after only two weeks curing. How accurate is it to measure luxe before you put plants in? I had the idea of dimming and adjusting height until you get the right lumens for the stage they’re in but before I put the plants in. It might lower the risk of light burn.

  6. In all honesty, I’ve had the luxe meter for a bit and while it’s nice to have and know where you are in terms of light. But at the end of the day we’re still relying on third party information to be able to say YES, this is 72,000 lux and that’s 950 ppfd, or NO... all that to say you can read the plants and have a good idea of how they are handling the light. I think having that damned meter is how I burned them lol that and trying to increase my DLI. You want to give them as much as they can take and boom, oops, crispiness lol. But I’d buy it all over again because I’m sure I’ll figure out how to apply it and like I said, it’s nice knowing. But the accuracy... idk, we gotta trust these third parties that are men and women selling shit. ‍♂️

  7. I have the same viparspectra light and left mine under it for three weeks (it would be considered a blurple) - - the young plants really seem to like it - - even based on how big yours are getting so fast!

Totally speculating but I wonder how they'll like a transplant and the change to the strong light around the same time? I'd probably transplant and wait a week for the qb (or maybe really dim it?) - - - just thinking out loud

I agree about the spending though - - I like that as with any hobby you can really indulge and spend, but to me, if I'm getting good results and happy with the way its going... I can wait and just enjoy it.

  8. whats DLI
Yeah, listening to your plants is somewhat underrated compared to recommendations to buy more stuff and do more stuff. I find with young plants and seedlings it’s best to litfa. That’s a good idea to wait a week after transplant to bring the big guns out. My last grow I only had 3 weeks of veg. I’m hoping to have a longer veg time this grow.

  9. Plants get X amount of light during veg. X hours of light per day. Going into flower at 12 hours, means there’s a significant drop when you switch to 12/12 from whatever veg schedule you adhere to and the lights are at the same height, same intensity, all that. So you want to blast them hoes by increasing intensity and distance... I’ll be back when I’m sober...

  10. Here’s some updates. In going to try to update more frequently but today they’re three weeks. I’ve got them under QBs. I think I’ve got the lighting dialed in for now. I topped one last night and the other today. Started lst on one. I’ll start lst on the other one tomorrow. I haven’t had any issues so far except I had the beginning of light burn after lowering my lights. But this is a really enjoyable grow. I’ll know soon which plant is which. One of my plants already has pistils.

  11. The last pic I posted was on 1/16 so here is the daily growth since then, except today.

  13. Thank you! I’m excited to see my results using the QBs for most of the grow. :)

  14. Now both plants are topped and tied. I turned up my driver a little last night and they’re not complaining! It’s amazing how much of just lst can make. It seems like after you start lst that’s when growth really takes off. I really love the new fabric pots I got. They’re taller, they have a green stripe and a pocket. How freakin cool is that? I didn’t like poking holes in them but that’s the easiest way I’ve found to tie them down. The one that I started lst on yesterday was already pointing up again. I’m happy with how everything’s been going so far.

  15. Here’s a few pics of my girls. Still no issues. One of my plants, which I think is the NL, has leaves stacking on top of each other with the nodes being so close. I’ve never had a plant with such small node distance. At least I can see that my plants are getting enough light.

  16. Here’s some outdoor pics. I watered them today for the first time since transplant a week ago. Next watering I’ll give nutes.

  17. That side shot in the last pic looks like it's stretching out a bit (?)

  18. I think so. I think that’s going to end up being the Stardawg. The other one is even bushier than yesterday. I’m almost positive that’s the NL. It’s starting to smell with a very nice light smell unlike the super pungent Stardawg. I do think it did do some stretching. I took the ties off hoping to get some vertical growth. I’ll put them back on so the stem doesn’t get too woody.

  19. And here’s day 26. I have a very short bushy plant going on! My other one is starting the stretch. I’m giving them their first dose of nutes with the next watering, which I think will be tomorrow. Veg nutes for my bushy plant that hasn’t shown preflowers yet and the other one I’ll give flower nutes. I think I caught the light stress before it got too bad. I’m glad my bushy plant is having a longer veg time. Now she just needs to get her stretch on. :)
