One of my good friends and I were blazing last night, and we got talking about old pieces. This one dude had a tomahawk piece, we all lived on the same floor in the dorms. We had a really chill RA who really didn't care what people were doing. I was in a 5 person room with a common bathroom, almost everyone smoked and we would used to bake out that bathroom. And yes I know I was a dumbass back then, 17 haha. That piece pipe was the shit! It didn't hit to well, but it was still just a badass piece pipe..

Throughout high school, I never had any pieces of my own... my friends usually were the ones who had the herb and the gear, and I'd bring munchies, movies, etc. for my part. Eventually, I always made sure to keep a metal pipe around, in case someone brought over herb and we didn't have anything to smoke it with... (happened more often than you'd think.) As an adult, I moved on from those little metal pipes... * two-piece 14mm glass-on-glass sherlock bubbler (broken while cleaning) * dugout and one-hitter (still have and use at festivals, skiing, etc... cigarette-styled aluminum) * 5" tall black and white swirl mini-sherlock bubbler * molino heavy inside-out color changing spoon with hurricane head (took a dive off the countertop and onto the tile floor, completely shattered, just as I got it completely filled in) * 10" sandblasted green/blue swirl sidecar bubbler * rainbow/indigo glass spoon by Gemini with attached stash jar (still have it, it's my bowl for special combustion occasions) * "bubbler" from a 5-arm Manifest Glass Works (MGW) ashcatcher with bowl piece and curved glass-on-glass mouthpiece (friend bought it, found it impractical for his uses, and left it with me. a seized bowl removal ended up damaging one of the arms on the perc, so the remaining arms were removed and it now has a diffused downstem inserted, and is used inline with my vapes) * cheap chinese glass ashcatcher (from "Tj" imports... ended up breaking, but I used the leftover bits to fashion a great hash-smoking rig for smoking swamp hash) * vaporgenie classic (my first real vape, converted me almost immediately and completely to vaporization, gave it to a good friend) * vaporgenie glass (my favorite portable piece) * vapor brothers hands-free (the daily driver ... like to use it with both standard and hands-free whips, direct and through the aforementioned ashcatcher for hydration, heating, or cooling...) I didn't describe any of my improvised pieces, homemade projects, or failed attempts... there's a few 2L waterfall bongs, some burned fruit, a bunch of glass-on-glass bits, and yards of medical grade tubing in there that's not laid out. I'm also a joint aficionado, and enjoy them (but consider them a rare treat for how much less efficient they are than my vaporizers)... they're especially wonderful outdoors, with groups of friends, and great music. -ph

That's an awful lot of homemades and not a lot of real pieces for someone who's been smoking since they were 13. Five-plus years is a long time to smoke out of soda bottles. -ph
