Will this be a safe combination?

    I'm wanting to make my first bong. So I'm using a wine cooler bottle for the base. I have a bowl that fits into a downstem with a big rubber stopper right under the bowl. Looks kinda like this.

    I was wondering if I could use an empty pen for the downstem. It's 1/16 thick plastic, and has writing on it. Will this release any harmfule chemicals from either melting, or the writing on it being in the water?

    As long as no plastic or rubber is being touched by the flame, you should be fine.

    im guessing the wine cooler bottle is glass which wont hurt you and a bowl and downstem made for the purpose wont hurt lol.
