lol...you guys shouldn't use plastic...the smoke pulls off harmful vapors from the surface and you inhale those. think pulling on a burning bottle. glass on glass w/ epoxy is much safer.
If you're really into making homemade pieces, get yourself a life hammer. It's a safety hammer used for breaking through a windshield, but it can be used to essentially "poke" perfect circles in glass bottles. I've made a few pretty nice pieces (Captain Morgan Handle Bong, Malibu Fifth Bottle Pipe, etc.)

Put a glass slider in a bottle and it's no different than a glass piece
Personally I use a Powerade bottle (http://thriftymommaramblings.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/powerade-printable-coupon.jpg) The plastic is a lot stronger and thicker and makes burning holes and hose etc easier. Use anything with a stronger plastic or the bong will bend when sucking (which can be a complete win if you do this right)
hmm, perhaps i'm just being overly cautious. I am curious however; have you smoked out of both glass and plastic? from what i understand, plastic makes the smoke taste/feel quite...plastic-y? (is that a word? lol...) My glass piece though now that i've epoxied the downspout in is amazing-hits+milks just like a 28" my buddy had. The piece in the picture's about 8" tall lol. On a side note: JB weld is safe to 500 degrees. They use it to repair engine blocks. I tried to pry some off with my fingernail but was unable to make any progress. If you do intend on making a plastic piece, don't use duck tape/superglue/other binding agents. Either melt the plastic (soldering iron/heat gun/really hot piece of metal) or use epoxy *** Anything user gksarmy writes is only to make them look cool and in no way reflects on the owner of the account
could you explain a bit? i'm intrigued lol *** Anything user gksarmy writes is only to make them look cool and in no way reflects on the owner of the account
Hmmm did you use a glass drill bit for your glass bong? Hmmm cause I got an empty 40 sitting around that I could use to make a bong

lol, gatorade bottle hookah? that'd be hilarious . and david, i thought as much...idk, just the idea of smoking out of one kinda gives me the willies lol
I used a set of diamong rotary bits: 20 Piece 1/8" Shank Diamond Point Set a word of advice though: use a piece of tape to draw a circle on the area you need, then only cut that out...i ended up having a much sloppier looking end-result than i'd have preferred because i ground too much out of the sides, and only barely enough out of the top of the circle. It still works GREAT, but it could look more professional. As far as a home-made downstem, i find hot-sauce bottles work really well; they usually have a long, thin, tapering neck, which you can cut off and sand down. Happy Tokin! *** Anything user gksarmy writes is only to make them look cool and in no way reflects on the owner of the account
VOSS water bottles. thick, they come in hard plastic or glass. perfect sized opening for mouth. made plenty of tree percs for friends out of these!
So far, I've used beer bottles but I don't know if there are better types of bottles or glass in general. So, homemade bongers, any input would be appreciated! Stay toasty!
If your going for glass, use something wit a infer bottom and a skinny neck, like a potion flask. I used a Hennessy bottle because I like Hennessy but I found that a 3 generations tequila bottle will be a good one

What I remember doing a few years ago is using an old Sobe glass bottle. check this video out (not mine.) [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxCncvmGydQ]Waterfaller Sobe Bottle - YouTube[/ame]
good stuff man a little advice: don't press too hard; let the machine do the work. if you can, immerse the glass container in water, or at least spray it periodically. this will keep the glass dust to a minimum, as well as prevent cracks. post/pm me pics when done? *** Anything gksarmy says on here is purely fictional

Just ordered it online so I'm waiting for it to come in the mail. I'll start a thread when I make one and pm you a link to it
Ok I make 7$ an hour after taxes the cheapest bong, which would really suck would cost me about 25$. SO I can bust my ass working for 4 hours to buy the crappiest bong commercially available, or spend less than an hour and less money making my own bong? At the same time learning something/working my mind by creating something rather than just heading down to the store and buying some crap from china. ok friend, you go buy the bong, but just realize not everyone has as good a job as you do.
