if you were to have a cheap acrylic bong opposed to a thousand dollar glass roor, are their advantages to a more expensive bong or is it just for looks
The way they clear. The way they milk. The Air Tightness... The quality of glass, The build quality. All those things.
Well, a thousand is a bit far stretched. You can get a nice quality roor for $2-300. its when you want art or features added that the price goes up(but thats with anything like that). As for whats in just the $2-300 pieces, whatsright is dead on in his points. Also, functionality, ease of use and cleaning makes them nicer(than grommeted at least). Better glass, stress free is alot more sturdy, more thermal resistant(borosilicate/soda lime is the proper material for the application), bases are of infinitely better quality. CRAFTSMANSHIP, this dude has been blowing quality glass since the 80's, he knows his trade inside and out by now. Tough to go wrong with a Roor... With that said, their are a handful of US glass blowers that put out a quality product also, imo. Don't limit yourself to just Roor. Check them all out before making a decision. When spending that amount, make sure to get what YOU want in taste, drag, aesthetics, thickness. It's all personal preference and experience when buying pieces like those. You get what you pay for definitely...
1st of all with glass you don't get that nasty plastic taste and you can actually taste the weed your smoking. 2nd if your glass setup has percs or an a/c, the weed is getting filtered of the naste toxins and tar that's in the weed so u get a lot smoother hit so YES U GET MORE HIGH! 3rd if u smoke out of acrylic you get some of the cemicals from the plastic in your smoke ( Its like the reason they say bottled water isn't good 4 u) so to answer ur question, your don't need a thousand dollar roor to get better smoke than acrylic, all you need is glass on glass. Any gong setup will be better than cheap acrylic AnyDay! u get what u pay 4!
Go get a $200 dollar roor, walk outside, hold it at arms length. Let go. Go get a $25 dollar acrylic, walk outside, hold it at arms length, and let go.
the acrilic wouldnt break, the roor would. atleast thats what id believe would happen, acrilic bongs are pretty sterdy, unless you like run them over with a car, but there not glass so they taste like crap

Well usually a cheap acryllic bong will not have a difussed down steam which is known to smooth the smoke down. Also probablly wont have a decent perculator if any. Also probablly wouldnt have any real Ice catchers.
Take the acrylic, smoke out of it for a month. Try and clean it with iso alcohol and come back to me. When your buying high end glass your buying quality functionality style along with it most likely being American made unless your get a German Roor
I enjoy this argument. I usually use it when people bash weedstar. Personal taste is the driving force of all decisions. Some people like to spend 200 bucks at once and never again. some like to spend 200 bucks, 25 dollars at a time over several months. its all the same amount in the end.
Take a hit off a pure-glass $200 roor and tell me what you taste. Take a hit off a $25 acrylic and tell me what you taste. Oh, and then tell me what other poisons you might be putting in your body with that cheap-ass made in china metal(lead?) bowl... 'nuff said. Yeah, one might break when it hits the ground, but the other one is eventually going to break you. "Stay healthy my blades" (picture the dos equis commercial, only with Tommy Chong sitting there with a big nice GonG)
Technically you get less high with more percs, because that's a little bit more THC being left in the water as the smoke is being filtered through. Mind you the amount of thc being filtered out is negligent. If I were you, i would just get the cheapest glass piece you can find. Glass is obviously more efficient than acrylic, but you have to be more careful with glass. They both have there pro's and con's, and they both get you high as fuck. The choice is yours
you cant say "technically you get less high", because you've contradicted yourself in saying the THC loss is "negligent" If it were negligent, you would be getting the same amount of high. Not less.
