I've heard the myth of tin foil hurting your lungs and what not, but i've also heard latley that tin foil infact does NOT hurt your lungs and can only truly damage your lungs if the tin foil MELTS. Now a lighter can not make tin foil melt, because it can't get to that height in tempeture. What have you all heard? and what is your intake on this subject? Also, i was going to put tinfoil as a screen on my homemade bong. here is a pic http://i43.tinypic.com/2qlewaw.jpg and you may not be able to see but the socket rench is 5/32 i belive. I was going to put a small amount of tin foil on the top as a screen. The reason i need to do this is because the whole is a bit to big.
I've heard of getting Alzheimers in the long run if you do it on the constant. The fumes are definitely not healthy.
Unless your 14 and you use your parents money to buy pot, you shouldn't use tin foil. It may not even be that bad for you, but its just grubby...Buy a glass pipe for 20 dollars if your tight on money
That plastic WILL heat up. Hollow or not, that is not safe. There are other materials to make what your trying to do, I don't suggest plastic or tinfoil (myth or not, its still kinda wierd to smoke). Overall, I see why people make handmades, just to see if they can and what not, but if your trying to use it as your main piece, I suggest a cheap glass spoon or acrylic bong if your tight on cash.
I agree with TheHitman47. If you're going to have a piece that big, you might as well not smoke for a week and use that money to buy a glass piece, whether it be a pipe or a cheap water pipe. Acrylic or glass is the key. You will taste that foil and plastic...combined with the butane from a lighter you are greatly altering the taste of your bud.

The only complaint I have with tin foil is the same complaint I have with every metal pipe. It gets too hot. And yeah, the marker will heat up and release fumes, don't use it.
I would never use metal or foil it's a dirtbag way to smoke.Use an apple.It's clean disposable and it really works good.
The only excuse to not spend $10 on a pipe at a headshop is if you are 15 years old and can't get in.
IMO: People who ask about tinfoil and about homemade pieces are all under 18. Why else would you put yourself through that bullshit when you can go get a oney for $3+tax?

Tin foil does just fine, I just don't like that highlighter of plastic there. Plastic is very icky as a bong. I never liked using plastic for home mades or I try to use as little as possible. Use glass! It makes the smoke taste so much more fresh and not stale like plastic does in my opinion. Anyways, nice bong shape how did you get a plastic like that? Have fun toking that!
you can buy like 300 screens for like $3 or so bucks.. come on.. and you can buy that plastic bong for like 15 too
Looks like a yard glass (though made of plastic). Probably got it during spring break. They're all over popular spring break destinations, just fill 'em up with beer and you will be DRUNK.
