When the insides are pulled out there is a small hole for the wick to pass through from the inside of the pull-out (where the cotton usually goes that holds the fluid) so i would guess that with the pull-out removed from the case and the cotton and wick removed, you would suck on the bottom of the pull-out. Wouldn't think it'd be very airtight, therefore not hit well and would taste like lighter fluid unless it was brand new.
hehe for 80 buks i could buy two brand new pipes and a lighter so there realy isnt a point in improvising that said you could always use one of dem fake zippos that are like 5 dollars a piece ...
^Or just appreciate the idea the op has provided and move on, lol.. Cant imagine smoking out of one of those, It wouldnt be air tight either. But its a pretty cool idea.
It is creative like others have said, but I personally wouldn't want to waste a good Zippo nor try something like this.
