Tincture attempt question

Discussion in 'Weed Edibles' started by Pass_00, Jul 30, 2016.

  1. Denatured is Ethyl Alcohol that has been deliberately poisoned so you can't drink it either.
    Has to be fully reduced the same as isopropyl

    You have 3 primary forms of Alcohol you can buy.

    Ethanol = Drinkable
    Methanol = Poison
    Isopropanol = Poison.

    Denatured is 90% Ethanol with 10% methanol added to keep drunks from drinking it as untaxed booze.
    It burns clean and soot less and has been used for Marine stove fuel for 100 years or more. It's an excellent thinner and cleaning agent as well. Works great to clean the sticky cannabis resin off your hands and tools while trimming.

    For use as Tincture you need Drinkable grade Booze. :)

  2. The problem of using iso is to get it all out of the concentrate.

    As a solvent, it's great. Almost too great, along with other things it collects plant waxes. And plant wax can hold onto iso.

    Getting iso out of plant waxes is more than just evaporating the iso, and that's where the concerns are. If your not confident you can get all the iso out, it's best to use high proof ethanol if possible.

    Using ethanol is safer in that it's not toxic. And it collects less plant wax to begin with, depending on the method of extraction, cold being better.
