Third Organic Grow With Auto NL and Auto Stardawg

Discussion in 'Organic Grow Journals' started by Foxymel, Jan 6, 2020.

  1. Well, here’s my plants at four weeks. A little chewed up. A little light burn. But they’re starting to recover. I sprayed BT and now I’m just finding dead caterpillars. My short plant is finally starting to stretch a little. I took a few leaves that were damaged and it really opened up the canopy.

My short plant has to be the NL. It acts like an Indica and doesn’t smell like Stardawg. I had to start using my filter when I noticed I can smell weed from outside. Not very discreet. I think I’m going to supercrop my Stardawg. There’s a couple of branches two inches above the canopy. The NL just started showing pistils. Much better than a three week veg like my last grow. Overall with all things considered I think they’re doing pretty good. I think they got a little stunted with the damn caterpillars. Hopefully they’ll quickly make up for it now. It’s been a challenge working with the QBs trying to get the right height and intensity.

  2. Today is day 35 and I think my plants are starting to recover. I took a few damaged leaves off and tied down my NL. I’m going to supercrop my Stardawg. Hopefully I won’t break any branches. But I’ll have tape on hand. This time if I have to use tape I have electrical tape instead of duct tape so it doesn’t stick together. My Stardawg is starting to stack a bit and my NL is showing some pistils. Not sure if that is when you start counting flowering starting. But overall they’re doing much better. I’ll continue to spray the BT. I hope I’m done with caterpillars!

  3. Those are some amazingly bushy plants--can't believe it's day 35 already! In any case they're looking good!

I'd definitely count showing pistils as day one of flower, but with autos my thought was that since the breeders usually give a sprout to harvest time frame, the first day of flower wouldn't matter other than to just keep note of when it started? (hope that makes sense)

  4. Thanks! I’m happy that she’s five weeks and still mostly in veg. My last grow started flowering at three weeks. So more veg time equals bigger plants. Hopefully there’s xx a flowering stretch happening soon with the NL. My NL is 14” and my Stardawg is 22 inches high. I can really see how plants can handle more light under the QBs during flowering.

  5. A little update. No caterpillars for three days dead or alive. They’re recovering nicely. I snipped a few leaves today and a few yesterday. Tucked some more. My NL is really starting to stretch. But still so bushy! There’s a lot of blocked light and airflow going on with so much going on beneath the canopy. She’s really slow in the flowering department. But she’s looking green and healthy. I hope the caterpillars are gone for good. Little buggers. My Stardawg already has frost and some amber pistils. My NL is probably going to be one of those plants I hear about going 100+ days. I did want to have a longer veg time.

My Stardawg from my last grow is much more potent and long lasting after curing for five weeks. Only thing I don’t love is that it gives me serious munchies. The kind where you feel really physically hungry. And out of every strain I’ve ever smoked it has the most effects of dry mouth and dry eyes. Makes you feel thirsty as a newborn vampire. It’s a really pure high. And nice hard dense nugs which is a first for me. Those qb96’s really make a difference. So worth the money.

  6. Still looking good! Glad you nabbed the caterpillars in time too. I love when they start flowering! One of the best things about these plants is being able to actually see progress as they grow.

  7. I do a lot of other gardening and I don’t have anything that grows as fast as MJ. It is more of a hobby than gardening, which pretty much costs soil and nutes. It’s rewarding enough to make all the money I’ve spent worth it. Crazy. It’s funny because I have more weed right now than I can smoke in 6 months. My Stardawg is acting like my last grow as far as speed. My NL is a lot slower. If all those almost bud sides are mains I’m going to have a lot of mains? No idea how that happened. The growth is even thicker where It’s extremely hard to even see beneath the canopy to do lst. But yeah overall a really fun thing to do! And most importantly it is about the only thing that helps with pain and migraines.

  8. Little update. I think I am done with caterpillars although I’ll keep an eye out. PH is sorted. And I gave nutes for PK deficiencies. And so far I’m not seeing light burn. My Stardawg is getting nice and frosty. I did a good amount of defoliation in my NL. Still pretty bushy. And weird. It’s finally started flowering. Weirdly but it’s something. My Stardawg seems to have stopped stretching and looks like it’s focusing energy into bud development. I took the ties off my NL to see if she’ll get taller. It should be about time for the flower stretch. I hope so.

  9. Glad you got things sorted and moving forward. About how tall are they now ?

  10. My NL is now 19 inches and my Stardawg is 23 inches. My NL hasn’t progressed in flowering for a long time. Just at the beginning. I mean I did want a longer veg time. It seems to get bushier every day. But it’s def looking better. Other than being a strange mutant. Have you ever seen a plant like that?

  11. I've never seen anything like them! They both started out so bushy and at least the one showed more stretch as time went on----really interesting! What I wonder is did it have something to do with the light, the medium, the pheno---all three?

My two Mephistos stayed so short (11" and 14"), I have to admit I wish they got a little taller. They're my first autos though so I'm willing to try again with a diff't breeder /strain. I do like the fast turnaround, but I kinda miss being able to kind of control the height (which I let get around 12--14" before flipping anyway). That's another reason I think I'm gonna try autos again next round---just to see difference in height.

  12. I’ve been neglecting my journal. Here they are at day 54. My Stardawg is not looking pretty. My NL is still getting bushier even though I’ve defoliated three times. That one went from caterpillars to ph issues to light burn and somehow is acting like I’ve been feeding her experimental growth hormones. My NL is only 20 inches high. I hope I’m wrong but it looks like my Stardawg is getting close. That would not be good. It looks like it would be larf. I harvested my Stardawgs from my last grow at day 54 or 55. They had nice big dense nugs. But I didn’t have all the issues I’ve had with this grow.

My next grow is Auto West Coast OG. I ordered them Saturday so hopefully I’ll get them soon. Last time I ordered from Greybeards it only took two days. I tried to pop another of my NL freebies and gave up on it after a week. This is only the second seed I’ve had that didn’t pop. With my mutant and a dud seed I’m questioning the genetics. But really my mutant is super healthy. It’s weird seeing them next to each other when they look so different when they’ve had the same treatment.

  13. So they’re eight weeks now. My Stardawg is looking pretty close. I’m hoping it’ll have time to bulk up the buds because right now they’re pretty leafy. What a difference in my NL! So much more light and airflow after a big defoliation. I can already see buds getting bigger. And it looks happier overall. Anyway here’s some new pics.

  14. Here’s my Stardawg and NL at 78 days. Stardawg is not the prettiest plant. I’ve been checking trichomes for about a week. It looks half dead and very leafy. The trichomes are mostly clear still. My NL is becoming quite the beauty. There’s a little bit of purple happening on the leaves and pistils. I hope that continues. I think she’s probably got another month. My Stardawg I’m just waiting on mostly cloudy with 10-15% amber.

I also have two West Coast OG’s at 17 days. They’re growing outdoors. I was going to grow one of them inside and one outside to compare but I need to wait until my Stardawg is chopped to make room. They seem pretty happy outside tho. I just started lst today. So far so good. Haven’t had any issues with pests. I have my plants surrounded by pest repelling plants and herbs. I haven’t grown outside since my first grow so I’m stoked. The biggest difference I’m seeing is they’re not as compact as I’m used to with really short node distances.

  15. Here’s my WC OG after being tied for two days. I’m going to top them today. I think it’s the best time to start plants outside in Florida. Before the extreme heat and humidity of summer and before rainy season kicks in. Still haven’t decided if I’m going to bring one inside.

I’ll be chopping my Stardawg in the next few days. I’m seeing lot more cloudy. I’m just letting her dry out so I’ll have an easier time with humidity when drying. Last grow I chopped soon after being watered and had issues keeping the humidity down.

My NL looks like it has 3-4 weeks left. But man she is the prettiest plant I’ve ever had and by far the most bud sites. I just need to watch very carefully for caterpillars and mold. I think mold is less likely because my temps and humidity is low and I’ve got three fans in them.

  16. Here’s my WC OG at day 24. Had a little issue with spider mites and caterpillars but I seem to have gotten rid of them for now. I will be keeping a very close eye out and keep spraying the BT. I’m not used to outdoor plants so I have a hard time judging how the growth is.

  17. And here’s my NL at day 86. I think she has two to three weeks left. I’m inspecting for caterpillars several times a day with a magnifying glass. I planted a Strawberry Cheese auto today and knocked the cup over. I put the soil back in but I have no idea if there’s a seed in there. I guess I’ll find out in the next few days. I ordered some Sucker Punch auto seeds and should get them in the next couple of days. I’m going to hive Teflon Strawberry cheese four days and if nothing I’ll pop two more seeds. Either both SP or one Strawberry cheese. ThAg way I have more variety.

  18. Oh I harvested my Stardawg. Fluffiest weed I’ve ever grown but the samples I’ve taken are pretty good. And have really great flavor. I ended up with one and a half ounces. Not the best result but it’s done. I can’t wait to harvest my beautiful NL. Crossing fingers I don’t have to deal with pests before them.

  19. Time for an update. Day 90 for my NL. I’m glad it’s almost ready so I don’t have to worry about caterpillars or something going wrong. Most of the pistils are amber but probably a lot more leaves will be fading before it’s ready. It has a nice light piney scent. It would be a good stealth strain because of the mild smell. But I’m really happy with how it’s doing. I can’t wait for harvest on this one.
