it got cleaned today with an iso soak then sold to a buddy as i just received my new one. heres some i just used hot water to get out ISO'd out and its all errl....it doesnt make every hit taste bad like a dirty piece used for flowers
Ya I love hitting my hash pipe after I sent a lot of hash through it. Tastes like impure hash, and still gets you rocked.
This is most of the family save a spoon and some bowls/ashcatchers. The Hoss is on its way out as soon as my buddy gets payed and I'm hopefully selling the other HiSi beaker soon so this is as large as the collection is going to be for a while.
Glass Bastard's thread made me want to share all my glass, but I don't have enough to warrant my own thread, so I'll just bump this with some pictures. ^ I've seen those toro's before. What does that little (propeller)? do anyway? I dont even know what to call it lol.
i thought it was just a little something to add to the tube honestly. I dont know if it has an actual function. good question though
Yeah I know it spins when you clear it, may even spin while hitting if you are pulling hard enough I guess. Anyone know if it has a function?!?!!?!?
I purchased it from Legacy Glassworks in November 2011. I'm almost positive they had it on their shelves since they opened their doors in September 2010. The owner had purchased it from another headshop that was going out of business. (Was his story, for all I know it was his personal piece from way back in (06?)07/08 that he took decent care of, and then put it up for sale when he opened his shop. Either way, glad I was able to snag it after I was put on to the glass game last spring right around this time (4/20). (My previous theory is supported by the fact that this came with an poorly cut 6-slit diffuser, and a locally blown slide. I'm currently on a wait list for a custom 3-hole diffuser for it being blown by them for $20.) As for the propeller, it is strictly for aesthetic purposes only. As you can tell (in the following videos) the straw and 'blow hole' which create the right airflow to spin the propeller while clearing* the tube are designed with much more drag than any modern Toro piece. Still a fun piece to hit every once in awhile, especially with a slide that provides adequate airflow, and when I get my new 9.5" diffuser. I don't like using 5" of water with my other diffusers from my regular tube, but it happens: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5ttgV9K7EA]Leisure 6-Arm to Prop - YouTube[/ame] You can see a single hole push slide like this one coupled with the extended downstem makes for a stale hit by the time it gets to my lungs, but this shot shows the exactly how the smoke travels up the tube: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FpLKCM4ouJg]SB/Toro 2 - YouTube[/ame] Does this clear up your questions? Any others? *edit: [I would be scared to meet the person that inhales their hit fast enough to get that propeller to spin!]
My beautiful bong broke =( My family is now a single bubbler and a pipe... Birthday is next month, and 420 is coming up. Perhaps I'll acquire a nice new one to show you fella's.
sick i love that worked handle slide!!!. you just need a slide with a hole bigger than the drainage hole next to that upstem.. thatll get the proeller spinning. cheers!
Yo thanks wied, glad I could get the old photography fire burnin for ya. Although I actually gotta post my 2 cents on that, lol, "antique" as was referred to, Toro prop tube. I've actually gotten the chance to rip one both with and without a prop on there (old buddy had two, broke the prop in the first one, got another), and surprisingly I do believe a difference is made, even if minuscule. Of course the prop isnt going to make a large difference overall when it comes to purity, I found the prop gave the smoke a much more aerated, crisp taste. kinda like the difference between hitting a 15 arm or a 10 arm. Very little purity change, however the hit just feels more "airy" is best as I can describe. I dunno, could be a self imposed placebo effect, however I like to think my sense of taste in this sort of field is spot on. Well anyway thats my two cents, keep posting those pics man!
^How'd he break his propeller? Need to know so I don't do the same! Honestly though, that's why this piece only gets brought out on occasion. I have noticed that if you tilt the prop tube too far from 90* the propeller won't spin, and the hit will be different, but I'm not sure how much difference the non-spinning prop has compared to the different diffusion from the odd water level angle. I think I have a few more unique shots saved of my glass, I'll dig a few out... (^this almost captures the red/white/black twisted/braided look in the ice pinches, which was the secondary reason I picked this guy up) Little things like this make Sheldon Black a great glass company IMO. This label can only be seen in just the right lighting. ^The combination that got me hooked on quality glass. 18" straight tube, with the Luke Wilson 6-arm. And just because its not a very common label:
Ugh I had to deal with cleaning the pieces used over the past two weeks. I promise GC I'm working on getting a table large enough to hold all 90+ heady and scientific pipes in one spot. For now I'll have to keep posting smaller group shots and individual milk shots in my thread. Hope no one's disappointed
Aww, haven't seen a new post in this thread since I posted a few ago! Well I posted it in my collection and the heady threads, but I think my little slide family pic has a place here too!
