I'll bite. From a thread with no replies: After a horribly failed attempt with a dried piece I found, I decided to go out and chop down a fresh bamboo tree from this little patch near my house. Very easy to make with hand tools or whatever you have around. First I just cut it down to the sections I wanted (groove the surface with a knife first to prevent splintering when you saw it), after which I punched out one of the inside barriers. I drilled a small hole for the carb and a larger (roughly 14mm) one into which you twist your favorite bong slide. I dried the section out in my microwave, going for roughly 15-30 seconds at a time and allowing it to cool between sessions. The water steamed out of it very quickly and left a mostly dry, nicely colored bamboo pipe. I also waxed the outside and bound the mouthpiece end with some rope for no reason at all. Fun little project if you have bamboo around. Edit: Savage Henry, your sig freaked me out hard. I thought it was on my post and it startled me.
Here's the Goose. The downstem is broken due to a tip, but I'm fixing it this weekend. Here's a view of the piece of downstem still left inside. It took about 2 hours total to get through with a glass drill bit. They make the glass pretty damn thick. Maybe that explains why it costs so much for such crappy vodka. Sealed the downstem in with some marine epoxy. Note: marine epoxy is what you want for DIY bongs. It's designed for use with water, so it doesn't dissolve with time like many other sealants do. She rips pretty nicely though. We usually put my buddy's RooR ashcatcher on it.
