^^ so that's how a domeless nail works. Seems like huge pain in the ass to have to pull it out with pliers (or scissors in your case) every time. if I had that setup, the likelihood of putting ti nail shaped burns in my carpet would skyrocket.
could not be more right my man! The syn slide originally came w/ a stand/glass nail that raises up when it is on the stand. You are supposed to set the slide on the stand, heat the glass nail, and pick the whole thing up and put it on whatever 18mm fitting you like problem is, glass nails blow in my opinion, so that's why I used the ti nail w/ that slide. I've broken 2 of those slides in the past month (not from dropping) and have since switched to the traditional dome setup. This one was definitely easier to dab, but held so much reclaim + you had to use pliers(scissors) to effectively do it w/ a nail. I liked the fact it was made by SYN and matched my piece over its actual ease of use and functionality and yes, I do have a couple of burn marks on my fingers/my coffee table from the nail/scissor method since switched to this...
