Been basically on autopilot for the past several months; intentions for this year got sidelined but should find the energy to focus as things drift into Fall.
Second coming for the small garden plot fizzled as well as the 12 x 12 with better exposure (that more owing to lack of maintenance). However the three Ghost Peppers I committed to the larger plot are bursting with fruits while the watermelon and squash have been choked out by weeds I neglected to eradicate. Have about 40 on them that should be turning color over the next couple of weeks which will be added to a amateur hot sauce I'm attempting. First small batch already begun with white vinegar, a dash of honey, and blueberries but I will probably vary the recipe for the larger set.
$1000 deductible on homeowners insurance to clean up this mess; if storm damage is covered. Hurricane took out nearly half of a mature tree in the back yard with most of it straddling the fence with neighbor.
A couple of years ago the neighbor on the other side in back was allowed to trim that same tree (on their own dime) and took half of the original before the wife freaked out and made them stop. Likely they would have taken down the whole thing but she didn't want to lose shade on the house and jack up cooling cost in Summer.
Love my Celosia; fortunately these babies have appeared unprompted this past year throwing some color into an otherwise bland display.
A little cheap pop of color without sacrificing the larger containers (who are earmarked for sprouts in the greenhouse).
Built some monkey bars for my squash; two variants in the front yard outfitted much the same for sweet potatoes.
Planted yellow Crookneck this wave with two barrels ready for when I get some Zucchini. The wife and I attended a local Herb Fair but it was pretty slim pickings compared to just a trip to Lowe's or Home Depot. Managed to drag her away with only $25 spent on vanity items; yarrow, lavender, and a pair of Cotton Rose Hibiscus.
