We've been blowing glass for over 14 years and part of our business is repairs. I can't tell you how many beaker bottom fix requests come in. Some blowers really thin out the glass when making beaker bottoms and this weakens the piece..... a piece can be advertised as "5mm" but the beaker is not..... when ads states the glass thickness -- keep in mind that the measurement is based off of the raw material used to make it... if an area is blown out, that area is not 5mm. It is possible to be almost as thick though..... however, consumers seem to like the big base which tends to draw more blowers to making things that way. (I can assure you our wares are durable and stay as thick as possible w/o compromise we even do QC checks prior to all sales i.e. "bang" tests etc) I personally use a straight tube as one of my key drivers. I love it!
I would go for a straight tube next time I buy a larger bong. Beakers tip over on their own and dont hold up weight without water in it so larger percolators may tip them over, and they suck with balancing on the carpet.
If this counts as a beaker then Imma go with beakers. I used to have a straight pipe, And it ripped while it lasted. Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
I enjoy beaker bongs better because you can lean it 45 degrees toward you to gain more surface area for the smoke and the drag is much smoother
Lmfao...I just got a 2foot graffix with a bubble base. Tallest they had and I just needed more bong, from a 12" straight glass tube. Been wanting a beaker cuz I had a pure that was nice, but I don't really like the way the bubble clears, maybe I'm hittin it wrong?
Ok, pulled slow and constant until cleared just now and was pretty damn smooth. I have a grip of water in there though. Either way when I pull hard to clear fast, it doesn't. I want a tall bong that clears fast without taking a drink.
Idk it really depends on the day if you want a beaker for a diffrent hit but mostly injoy the strait tube as i have recently went back to it i will always say they give both diffrent feeling pull Sent from my SM-A530W using Tapatalk
Straight tube. Ive never had a big beaker though. But my 12 inch straight tube feels smoother, and faster to clear. I have a 8 inch beaker though, it was alright but kind of harsh.
lol post is half a decade old. I like to see these types of convos. You don't see much chat about glass anymore.
