k, so i just made a bowl of my own (glass one broke) tell me my flaws, its a 13/16 socket wrench bit with an empty pen tube shoved way tight in the bottom and melted so it cant slide at all, it fits my bong great, but i aint got a screen on it. would steel wool be a bad screen to use? what should i use for a screen? maybe some better bowl ideas? just lookin for advice! ^^
Just noticed you were in AZ haha. I'm in Flagstaff myself. Not sure about your bowl to be honest, I'd get sketched out with plastic anywhere near heat and then my lungs. Got an apple around? That could be a perfect way to smoke right now, without having to use any questionable materials. Just a Granny Smith and some Mary Jane.
Steel wool will burn. Aluminum foil is an option but health risks come with it. A small pebble from outside usually works pretty well.
hmm ok cool, the socket wrench bit is perfect, but ur right i dunno how plastic'll work, and a pebble? hmmm that may be purfect as long as the cherries dont reach the plastc i'll feel safe so hmm indeed the only thing i'm havin trouble with is a screen
The pebble is the screen. It goes into the bottom of the bowl and acts like a "glass screen" (probably a better term for them but that's what I've heard them called). I also like to avoid plastic but I've done it before (been quite a while). If you burn the bowl too hot you will melt the plastic and inhale some of the fumes.

Never use a plastic pen tube for a stem. How about get a metal tire gauge and empty that out and use the tube. That's what I did before.
Mines pretty unique, I used the screen from an old apple headphone(wash thoroughly) and for the bowl i used the bottom part of a stethoscope with the plastic part that they put on your chest ripped out.
if ur inbetween slides u could replace the pen with a rolled up section of aluminum pop can. but like tinfoil this comes with health problems with prolonged used
They sell screens at headshops..., i used a socket for the bamboo bong i made also and it worked great!!
Me and my friends once made a pipe out of a plastic 2 liter and a wood tip from a black and mild. It ripped hard.
