I've seen a few things that are new to me and I can't find anything explaining what the are. I'd like to make a few homemade spin-offs. First, what is an "oil rig" and secondly what is the purpose? Third, what is a "fixed arm"? Lastly, besides ice chambers, percolators, diffusers and diffuser beads, what are some of the other accessories or whatnot than can be added to bongs or other smoking devices that would be considered "stylish or helpful"?
An oil rig to my understanding is for smoking oil's/hash. Carbon filters help a fair bit, but it adds drag, YMMV.
fixed arm means no downstem. the bowl slides directly into part of the bong, less parts, less drag and works better. oil rigs are as said above, just a low diffusion piece designed for oils and hash. made mostly for most flavor, not big rips. as for accessories, ash catchers, carbon filters, diffused bowls, different style downstem if the bong has one
I'm not sure how a "fixed arm" would deliver any noticeable less drag or work better.. With a separate downstem, you have many more options on diffusion, and you can clean them a hell of a lot easier.
