  1. Yeah but it's all about quality. If you supposedly buy a brand new corvette and it's running like a Kia and figure out it's not real.. You're gonna get pissed!

    Great guide!:smoke:

  2. Figured i'd throw up a pic of some similar pieces of real and fake RooR next to each other for comparison. Hopefully this gives alittle more visual of what to look for.

Alittle background on the pieces. All are 18.8mm, 15.5cm length. The broken piece(in the middle) came with my .de lil sis i ordered from a legit dealer in the UK. I used it for about 6 mos, 30-40 washes in 420 cleaner, and it doesnt have 1 chip in the logo, looks brand new, just broken on the end.

Went to the LHS(who i heard had RooR, but knew the stuff was probably fake), and they had a replacement, but right away i was skeptical, and i told him so. Evrything just looked cheap compared to my .de at home. Once i examined it, i knew. They had put an area on it to add carbon granules. Trying to imitate RooRs separate carbon filters. They figured put it all in one, lol, it even came with a silver screen down in it, lol. But i need the ds anyway, so i figured wth. I think it was $25, listed at $35.

Anyway, i use it a couple times, it works fine(lol), and i wash it. Well right away i notice the logo get thin, but not real noticeable. Use it some more, second washing, see for yourself. Logo came completly off on the end R, after 2 washes.

Ordered the .de diffuser from same dealer i got my bong. That was about a year ago, and at least 60 washes later(prolly more like 80), the diffuser logo is just barley starting to chip in places. Also notice the g on g parts are identical on both the real pieces, while the fakes is definitely more shallow. Fake is on the bottom...

  3. Good thread above, thanks for sharing. You can really tell the difference; something else to look out for when purchasing a R00R.

Today my friend dropped my R00R and the joint dropped, sad day I know but it was replace and everything is alright, it was only a 3.2mm, and had doubts about it being fake, but I got a bad ass Delta9, so I am happy. Will be ordering a nice German R00R off EDIT when I get the chance, so not to worried. But anyways I called this shop to see if they had any R00R and they had a white label and the guy was telling me it was a 4mm, which is bullshit. Also he told me that the quality of Germany and United States R00Rs is no different and they are both the same quality.

  4. Sad to hear... but 3.2mm glass just cannot stand up to much trauma. I picked up one too and have to be extra careful.

  5. Yeah man, it lasted a good while and I hadn't had any problems with it until the other day. It was an accident and just slipped out of his hand, so not much you can do. I am glad it was ONLY a 3.2mm and not a nice expensive Toro, that is why I don't like to spend a lot on glass.

But see ismoker that door could have swung the other way just as easy. If you would have spent more, it might have just bounced instead of broke. Take a real Hurricane from Republic of Bongland for example, they have videos up of 1 being thrown, not just dropped, but chucked across the room. No worries about breakage. These bongs are made of the same top quality borisilicate glass as German RooR is. Here it is...

No, they start around like $400 i think. The big 1's might be a grand. They are all like 7mm i think, they don't make different thicknesses like Roor iirc. Just different sizes. Looks like a 250cc is 190 pounds from the shop in the UK i bought my .de Roor...

  10. So what is? Metal?! Hahaha

  11. lol the green label straight tube FAKE roor is mine. well the diffuser broke and its a giant steamroller now.

  12. Haha I remember when you posted that one. :smoke:

  13. Haha literaly right after i read this thread this afternoon, we went to the head shop to buy screens. While i was in there, there were a few dudes about to buy a "roar" with a lion head on it, thinking it was a legit roor. The shop owner wasnt too happy with me when i butted in and told them it wasnt legit =))

  14. Good job dude, fuckin jerk ass head shop owners.

  15. roar? lmfao that made my night :D

  16. i don't necessarily think it's fake, a headshop i used to contribute too recently started getting that 2nd 'roor' down stem with the weird middle joint as soon as sheldon black started emerging, they typically never have anything sketch like that and i've purchased thousands worth of 'roor' glass there (i don't know if it's real or fake, just my .02 cents) .us and .de both shape the top the same as the 1st .de diffuser, the 3rd one i've never seen before but looks convenient.

anyone know what's up with that middle down stem? the one i purchased was diffused and they replaced all there old ones with the new less curved/bubble shape right below female joint, i'd also add my holes were closer together then others and seemed a little 'off' to me, didn't call it fake, but i did trade it to my friend for my old diffuser. :p

  17. That's because that second one is real... it's the third that's a fake. ROOR doesn't make a diffuser with an attached carbon adapter.

  18. Yeah, the 2nd one in the pic is the original ds that came with my .de. I picked the third one up as a replacement, and knew it was a fake because of the section for carbon filters. Roor only makes separate carbon filter pieces. Not an all in one like the bottom DS. And because the logo came halfway off after 2 cleanings. Both those real pieces have been through 100 washes between the 2 of them, logos are still in pretty good shape...

  19. And is it just me... or does that logo look metallic?

It used to be white, lol, after that first cleaning it took half the paint off, you're prolly seeing the reflection from the glass underneath. Almost like its some regular paint. Not hard paint like the real 1's.

Just to add to this, i saw you say in another thread Sinse that you have seen crooked logo's and such on real RooR stuff. here's some ammo for you. If you notice, on the middle broken ds, that is a RooR.de and the logo is slightly crooked. Just an actual pic of a .de with a crooked logo.
