For all my R00R lovers I want to post this picture here before I do an official thread so we can all talk and blab.
Not all of those have the bistabil thing or the bistabil dots and I see tons of deep ande shallow joints on those. A lot of what I've read from now on is obsolete Btw... the crown label is the illest id hate to know what the sticker on that thing would be. And side question are the beakers on roors consistently thick like the main tube??? And those mouthpieces are quite pleasant to see as they look spot on like my tube
hey blades, i just got a question about the roor ice pinches, Should they be sharp and pointy or just blunt at the ends, i went with my friend to Blue nile in nyc to pick up an SB but he got a roor and is worried is fake because of the blunt, flat ice pinches
It's kind of hard to tell JUST by the ice pinches, and with no pictures it makes it even harder for anyone on this forum to make a judgement. All I can say is that there needs to be three pinches, and they are usually not super pointy and jagged but still I need a picture.
No... the beakers thin out... but much less so than on cheap tubes. Ice pinches on ROORs vary more than any other part on the tube imo. Look at my sig... see how they're blunt like you described?
THE BIGGEST UPDATE OF FAKE R00R PICTURES YET!!! I found these on some website that you can do business with other companies other seas, in places like China. I LOVE how some of the joints aren't EVEN pulled out yet, I have NEVER seen that before. I was basically scrolling and scrolling through pages of fake RooRs, in every color, style. You can see from the pictures, it was blinding folks. Heh. All of these pictures came from Chinese companies, so that is where they are coming from, and you know where they are coming to... the United States.
That orange labeled beaker bottom without the joint would make a cool flower vase for your coffee table (if thorns wouldn't break the glass!)
Wow I saw the red label beaker bottom with the single perc yesterday at a local shop and almost bought it. The shop had it for 250, and strait tubes with no perc that were six inches smaller for the same price. some of the label was chipped on one the strait tube, and there was no signature on the beaker bottom tube. They had trademark's and roor downstems but something about them seemed fishy.
speaking of fake ROOR's, i was having a browse through my step-dads office looking for my car keys, and BAM, and big ol' Roor sitting there. Went upstairs, hit up GC, checked the ways to tell. O: turns out it's fake. looks like he got scammed.
Funny story I was in NYC the weekend before last, this was during a pretty bad storm. So I was looking for a certain shop to check out Toro's. And I walk into what I thought the store was and they have a wall of RooR's, so I ask the guy if this is the store. He says, " No man but we got the same stuff, that store is like 5 blocks down." So I checked out the RooR's, and thanks to this thread within a few seconds I noticed some out of place signatures, and labels. So I left and walked literally like a block and there was the store!!!!!!!!!!!! (I walked out with a Toro-thread to come)
I'm glad the advice posted in this forum has helped to educate people and help them to be able to spot fakes. That was my goal when starting the thread. Keep on spottin those fakes!
Yeah man keep up the good work, been checking out all sorts of smoke shops in San Diego and San Clemente an O-side and can easily tell the fresh from the fakes
Thanks man.. all I did was start the thread but we have had such a big support in this thread and it really has turned into something awesome. Not just me but plenty of others have including all sorts of stuff about spotting fakes. Like yourself warning ppl of head shops in your area caring fake RooRs. I never did think it was hard to spot fakes. People were just uneducated and so that needed to change and we needed to educate them. If you know what to look for then you can easily spot a fake. But if you don't and are uneducated then anything you see with ROOR will look legit to you. I find most things in life are like this... with little education and guidance, you can get a whole lot more done. Be easy, and safe folks..
