Nah i don't think so, maybe buying a illy coil condenser is like buying ed hardy, but a basic Roor is just a good, high quality tube, no nearly useless glycerin or flash and pazzazz like the Illy. But of course you are paying for the name, why would i buy nike's or jordan's, when i could get vans? That argument of paying for a brand is nonsense, you could use it for any brand basically, there is always going to be a better company at any trade. But Illy is in no way better than Roor, they are the originators of the glass on glass we all know and love.
those glycerin condensers cause to much chug effect, Ive used them at kush Dr hash bar in venice, totally not needed. Plus I could totally see my dumb ass picking it up from the condenser and having the bottom come off and crash to the floor. oh and i always thought phx was out before roor? eh
No way, Roor has been around since the late 80's. I think PHX is fairly new, probably within the last decade or so.
Ya I remember seeing PHX in the 90's I looked up ROOR and saw it was from the 80's Im thinking PHX was available in the states first is all.
Ya Roor.us didn't come around til the late 90's either, US gong has really only existed for about 15 years.
Who is Illadelphia? My honest opinion is that it is indeed fake. I feel like there are only maybe 20 shops that have legit US R00Rs now and the rest are just fake. My reasons for being fake are that the joint just looks way to small, it doesn't even look like they pulled it off the beaker. Also the ice pinches are way far apart, on others I have seen them be much closer, they look to spread out. That is my opinion, and that is only an opinion because no one for sure can tell you if its fake or not unless you bring 'er to Dementia. The fakes are getting better and better and they are starting to out number the real ones which is pretty pathetic. Also just because a shop has other legit companies doesn't mean that their R00Rs are real, honestly. I have been into plenty of shops that have name brand glass, and then fake R00Rs. R00Rs are one of the most known companies and they are very easy to sell to people who know nothing about glass or want there first bong or whatever. R00R is the only company that has fakes, no other brand gets counterfeited Basically its been much harder for head shop owners to get REAL R00Rs in then it is to get fake ones in now a days at least with all the bullshit and stuff that has been going on. Other then that nice tube man. My first piece was a R00R, didn't know shit about glass at all, just went in, knew R00R was a "cool" company and got it. After doing a bunch of research I had found out it was a fake tube. Ain't nothing wrong with it, just confront the HS owner, and smoke and enjoy your pipe. I'd like to see what other people have to say because once again I can only give you my opinion, so I want to see what some of my other GC brothas have to say about this piece.
Ya his tube is hard, which i why i want to see a full shot. The label isn't centered and the ice notches are wayyy off, but the sig looks like it may be legit and the joint doesn't look janky. @iSmoker, there is definitely more than 20 shops carrying legit Roor.us, maybe only in Cali ya, but not in the whole country. I have about 4 shops within 2 hours of me that carry them +1 more for loving Cali!!!
Hmm, that tube looks a bit strange but I can't be sure. the ice pinches look different then how ROOR would make them, a little too pointy. The joint looks a little bit funky like comparing the bottom of the joint to the top. You should get a shot from the beaker bottom, because it seems from the picture that the beaker is a little wider then Roor.de. About the little arguement about Roor being high priced only because the logo. Well my honest opinion is that you get what you pay for and Roor is expensive yes no doubt. But the way a roor.de delivers a hit is really something else. It's such a simply tube but it's gets me so damned stoned, I really noticed a difference when I got my roor.de of how amazing it hits. And that is the most important part of the piece. Again, just my input.
Your are correct in the sense that signature does look more legit then the fake signatures I have seen. But when saying there was only 20 head shops that was a number off the top of my head, lol. My point is that over here on the East Coast we only have Kultures, I only trust them. All the others around my area either don't have them at all, or they are fake. It is much easier for a head shop owner to get access to fake R00Rs I think then it is to get legit ones. I wish I had legit places for glass around me, I was talking to a head shop owner this week about his place and his glass and he told me that he should have some new R00Rs coming from Suite G. The new company that will be disturbing them over here in the United States. Don't believe all that ZOB bullshit, because ZERO of it is true. He was at a glass convention this past week and I guess Suite G had a booth set up and the head distributer from Germany was there and had a passport and was backing up Suite G making sure people knew they were legit and not just knock off R00Rs. He said Suite G actually trained its own blowers to be able to blow the new R00Rs so maybe that will make the QC much much better but I am not saying anything is definite until I see them in person so we shall see how that plays out. I'm out for the day with my girlfriend so have a good day, and stay high fellas...
good looks son...just got a roor now im anxious to check it out...heres a picture...what do you think?
the last shipment of real roor.us tubes went out around mid september 09, here it is being mid march 10. the probability of that being a legit roor.us is slim to none considering roor.de hasnt started their "new united product line" yet, and honestly probably wont until mid may or later (when ever the start of the new fiscal year is. remember people these are business we're talking about) id be pissed off too if i had to pay real roor prices for a fake.. anyone would. and 1 reason these chinese, and other companies that produce these fakes dont fake other brands, ie, sg, toro, illy, etc is simply because they cant, they dont have the skill to produce these kinds of pieces. there has been several debates amongst us glass heads about the fact that since toro made the first stemless tube if anyone else who uses a stemless design for a tube is technically producing a fake toro to a extent. yes these are fake roor's but its a possibility roor.de outsourced some of its product line to other countries simply to keep up w/ the demand of its us based customers? roor wouldnt be the first to do so in such concerning times as their company is going through at the moment? 1 thing people forget to look at when discussing these companies like roor, illy, etc is they are a business first and foremost. they're doing this to make money. so you have to look at it from a business and economic stand point. yes the tube is a fake roor as in it wasnt blown by a legit roor.de paid employee, but it is possible that it was infact produced by a contract from roor to be made at a cheaper cost?
My LHS still has 8-10 Roor.us tubes, 6 Rasta labels 5mm, half beakers, half straights, a few mini beakers, and a couple black labels. So they are still floating around, probably not much outside of Cali, but don't rule them out yet. And you never know, they could have bought one of CL or someone else...
There are a lot of real Roor.us tubes still in stores in NYC, though fewer than there used to be obviously. But you can still find something nice, especially towards the top end of the price range.
Is this a real RooR? [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2TldDSvUWqU]YouTube - Real German ROOR[/ame]
It's not German like the vid title says. I'm pretty sure its Roor.us as thats a U.S tree not a chino one in there. The chino ones stick up above the arms like on this awful fake... (from this site which sells fake roor, illadelph hell even fake Phx)
No, Roor has made some slit diffy's. I bought one for my a/c but it broke after a week, it was real shitty. But i just got home from picking up a new 9 hole 14mm a/c diffy, 20 bucks . I didn't even know they made that few of holes for their diffy's, but the guy said they were a set just for the a/c's they carry. And ya, that Roor is legit btw.
