Hey, I am looking to get a ROOR, but after reading this thread, I'm a little skeptical that I'll be able to find a real one, or even worse, tell a good fake from a real one. I'll be heading into NYC, so can anyone vouch for a shop in the city that they know is legit? Thanks in advance
damn, ya that sig is exactly like that fake eh? i coulda swore i saw a legit one like that, maybe it was just the colors.. im just gonna keep my emouth shut about that roor
Shackleford... I think your ROOR is real... and old school. I say that because it looks like it has a joint on it that I have not seen on many ROORs. I have an 05-06 tube and an 08 tube in my possession and both have definitive squared off edges on both sides of the lip of the joint. Your's is only squared off on top and rounded on the bottom. Because it is so well constructed and the welds look typical of ROOR.us I think it is simply an older tube from before ROOR started receiving bistabil joints from the Germans. My only question is do you have 3 ice notches. In the pic it seems you have 2 or the third is just hard to see in the pic. As far as that red notch tube... the joint weld does look different than most ROORs I've seen. It flares out in a strage way that you can see in the first pic but not the second. Despite that, the brilliant tone of red on the notches and lip makes me think that it is high quality color rod work versus cheap import tubing or rods. That color alone makes me think it's legit. I could be wrong... I'd like better pics of the lip from the side to be honest. The sig on the tube could be legit as well. We've seen it on tubes that appear to be fakes but of course we have. If a fake sig never once appeared on a real tube it wouldn't be very convincing would it. The "dots around the joint" sig has a real counterpart... why not this one too? Officially, I'm undecided... but off the record I'm leaning towards genuine. Edit: NYC Gifts carries legit ROOR.us... New Yorkers correct me if I'm wrong.
Ty sensi. I just got it a few weeks ago. The owner said she was getting them from so/me guy who had them. My only thing on what you said is when did they start rounding their r's and yes there's a third ice/notch
I don't know when they started rounding the r's. That would be a good question for Scheize or Ninja on TC. I didn't even notice you had flat r's... that solidifies my belief that you have an older tube. Both of them could also tell you with 100% certainty if the tube is real. I'm good... but I'm not OG good.

@punksk8ter13 hey man i have two roors and from my experience here on the threads your joint looks really funny to me and also your ice pinches look really pointy and weird. I wouldnt be suprised if thats indeed a fake
i know its a beaker tube it just looked weird to me at first glance. wait for a response from iSmoker or sinsemillaplease there answer will be 10x better than mine. sorry in advance if its real and i scared you to death >_<
Its cool man,The shop I got it from has alot of name brand stuff(IE US tubes,zob).I've bought plenty of stuff before I ran out and bought this RooR.The owner is wicked cool and gave me my usual 15% off!
water level is too high in that also. use about half that. if we could see the bowl or maybe just a zoomed out pic to verify, might be easier to tell if theres any defects.
How bout who cares? Its all about Illadelphs!!!!! Illadelphia is the only company that requires all employees to be scientific glass certified blowers. roor does not. And who cares about either haha, they're both overpriced glass. You can get the same quality at a fraction of the price with a bunch of diff companys. Or just step up to the ultimate smoking utensil the titanium curve vapor swing.. with a blank tube and a gram of some bomb ear wax hash or budder for a grand total of 150 bucks. wooooooooo
You contradicted yourself completely, troll post! I have never hit an Illy, none of my local shops carry them, but i think i'll stick to Roor/SB, thanks. And who cares if their blowers are "certified", whatever that means, glass is glass, it all breaks the same...
I guess im just saying illys are the better of the 2 evils. theyre both equal to buying douchey ed hardy clothes kinda. your really just paying for that roor logo and nothing more.
