Ya i was wondering about that, i'm pretty sure it's hexagonal bases, not oct. And yes, for the blue series of Roor.de, there will be no signature, just a dot. I was just saying that there are .us tubes that don't fall under the same criteria, so people shouldn't automatically assume the tube is fake when they see one without what you listed.
Lets put it this way. If you're in a headshop that is in America and they for some reason they are selling "Roor.de", most of the time it's gonna be fake. Roor stopped selling to America a while back and if they still had tubes wouldn't they all be sold already? I know theres a couple floating around here and there but I don't think they'd be on sale really, if so, I think the headshop owner would want that shit in a second. Also, if there a a sticker on the bong that says "made in germany" that screams fake. why would you put a "made in germany" sticker on a bong? to try and convince the buyer I feel. Headshop owners selling fakes to people, claiming they're real, are true assholes. If you have the slightest doubt that it's not legitimate, walk straight out of there yo.
Yeah, it's usually imprinted on the bottom or something. I have a roor.de and theres a made in germany label(it's small but it's there) on the bottom of the beaker, same labeling used for the roor logo. not a sticker, anyone can make a sticker that says made in germany. I'm just saying, I don't think roor is putting stickers on their stuff.
i had no knowledge on how to identify a fake roor, still find it hard after reading this. but i thought the OP said that the dots hugging joint means its fake? or is that not for all cases? not calling urs fake, just a bit confused. sweet setup though.
Correct, dots hugging the joint usually indicates a fake roor. Luckily, that guy's tube doesn't have dots around the joint. I see a gigantic blue signature and three yellow dots. So either I'm wayyyy too high or you are.
Right that is if it is just a series of dots...Lots of sigs have a squiggly and a few dots. If you look there is a squiggly and dot combo--also I get all my glass from Kulture in VA and knoiw the owner. He does not carry any bullshit glass--no china in his shop at all!
oh ok, i get it now. i didnt comprehend the "around the joint" part haha. i havent been to kulture (yet ) but i do know that theyre legit. but thanks for explaining it, i appreciate it re-read my statement, sounded a bit rude to me. i didnt mean that the OP did a horrible job at explaining, cause he did an amazing job. i understand a lot more than i did before, but i think since i havent gone out and looked at or bought any nice pieces, i still dont know how to spot a fake. but if i see any of the things he pointed out, definitely staying away from it.
Go check out this page He breaks it down for yea....one of the only shops that I have ever, ever seen real German Roors in the US ROOR - Gallery - Kulture - Richmond - Charlottesville - Chesterfield Va Virginia Clothing and Glass Shop
Bought this in the U.S this past week. Wondering if it's real or not. Let me know if you need more pics. http://i47.tinypic.com/be92z5.jpg http://i50.tinypic.com/207m713.jpg http://i49.tinypic.com/6rob9w.jpg http://i50.tinypic.com/2ey8etk.jpg http://i45.tinypic.com/2mrur0g.jpg
I'm thinking fake. The label looks like it has square corners which I believe were only on old school roors. The joint also seems too long.
I hate to tell you but that is a fake man. Decent looking fake but like Viper pointed out your label is square. Open up the pic I posted ^^^above^^^ Look at all the labels on the bong, the diffusers, ash catcher and the slide.....see how the R's both have curves in em....RooR US and .de labels are the same with the rounded labels Also your ice pinches are very pointed and not a smooth line that RooR would do which is another indication.....If you just got it I would try to bitch out the headshop for store credit or some money back if you paid in the 275-350 range that a true White label 5mm bistable joint ROOR would really go for Hope this helps!
Your diffuser does look like a legit US diffy though.....On looking more your joint does not look like it is correct on that piece as well....sorry man
I bought it for $150. How far is the stem supposed to go down? It doesn't go all the way down, like probably 3/4 down.
How was it labeled when you bought it? Anything at all on the piece besides the price tag IE 5mm, bistable, roor.us, roor.de That price should have been a red flag! I have never ever seen a full size dealer's cup (beaker base) RooR go for under 275 Not trying to be a dick in any way....it is really shitty that a shop would do that to you.
