If you want a really durable piece... you should be looking at US tubes. They offer ridiculous thickness at a lower price than you'd think it should be. There's also a 9mm straight over on FMG for really cheap. But yeah... those ROORs are pretty high quality... and will be as durable as can be expected for a 5mm piece.
They have a decent selection of US tubes as well it looks like, I was just looking at them. Us Tubes pictures by Puffin_Glass_Seattle - Photobucket One of them has a wild kinda spiraling ashcatcher looking thing dunno if thats a dry ash catcher or what.
Looks just like an inline a/c to me. but ya i've been to Puffin Glass and they have some real nice tubes. they even have a couple of toros, and a super sweet killadelph. It sounds like you should be lookin into some of their US tubes, like Sinsemilla said, if you want a really durable piece. 7 or 9mm will practically NEVER break.
Im sure the 7mm roors will be out of my range for this trip, im lookin 350-400 range, trying to walk away with a nice perc'd tube or a straight tube with a wet AC, or something funky Looking for a heavy duty daily driver. Might try and barter down one of the top end straight tubes and get a AC another time, who knows
The pics in this guide help to sort it out as a fake. The vast majority of fakes have the 5 dots around the joint sig. All the real ones I've seen have 4 similar colored dots and one different and they're usually thick bulging dots. The fake ones are all the same color and are usually spaced wrong. Real Fake See what I mean? There's more differences as far as quality between the reals and the fakes... this is just the quickest and easiest way to identify.
so i got ripped off. is there anything i can do? i doubt i can get a refund.everything on it is fake?
I just picked up the real version of that very piece today. I'll post a picture in a bit. The back of the RooR label actually has a small amount of sparkly/dichro look to it. So Sick.
I was pretty surprised to notice this on the back of the label. I haven't seen or heard anybody else mention the sparkly bits of awesome.
Alright so I was wondering and I don't know if this has been put out there yet, forgive me if it as. I recently got a Roor.de from EDIT. It's real, legit, hits like a dream. On the bottom of my tube (it's a little sista) the words "Made In Germany" Are printed right on the bottom of the fucking thing, small print, but still (same type labeling used for the "Roor" logo). I just wanna throw this out there, I don't know if it's only newer ones or all of them say that but it's worth a shot to check the bottom of the tube to see if it's authentic or not.
Ya, that's what they say now, on the bottom of the tubes. Not sure if it goes with every .de piece, but I've seen legit RooRs with that same "Made in Germany" on the bottom.
I've never seen that before... Obviously I can't see it in person... but I'd bet it's just holes in the label that light is shining through from an improper bake. Otherwise i need better pics that include the sig and such. I don't see a splashguard though and if there really isn't one then that tube is fake.
Haha, way to make buying glass shady, that sucks, I would hate to have to look for all these things just to tell if my fucking bong was real or not. How annoying.
All the second guessing and checking can be eliminated if you simply refuse to support shady shops that sell "ROORs" without being an authorized dealer. Simple as that...
From what I can see it looks real. The joint weld looks a little funky... but that could just be the picture. I'd need to see the other side with the sig to be certain. Thing is though... that place doesn't seem to be an authorized dealer. I looked at their glass page and that is the only ROOR pictured. That alone would lead me away from purchasing it. How did it get there if not from Dementia in CA? Does ROOR.us even ship to PA? I wouldn't think so... since most shops won't.
The sig looks legit but the glass seems so thin; does ROOR go below 5mm? It's not an authorized dealer my friend runs the shop. He bought it from a local distributor.
