  1. I’m still trying to get through my batch of brownies that I made at the beginning of this thread.

  2. Made some more these past few days. Going to refine my technique and do tests for strength over the next few weeks.

So this is 63 grams of sativa bud (harvested in 2010 and stored in a sealed jar in the cool dark), grown indoors with organic compost.
To extract I use 4 quarts of water and 2 cups of liquified organic coconut oil. The herb gets chopped up in a blender before I put it in with the water and oil.

The coconut oil is in the 4 cup pyrex pour cup to the right on the stove. It’s sitting in hot water to liquify it. That pyrex cup gets well used for this process as I will show.

  4. I cook the mixture at a very low simmer for up to 24 hours. You can get away with just 12 hours though. This allows through decarboxylation and extraction of many active compounds into the coconut oil. Undesirable elements like plant chlorophylls are in the water.

So I set a colander in a glass bowl and line it with a t-shirt. Then I start scooping in the hot water/oil/plant mixture. This generally takes two glass bowls.

  5. Oil/water mix in one bowl. The t-shirt with the herb is in that Pyrex cup and I set the colander on top of it. Since I turned off the heat about 30-60 minutes before starting this I was able to squeeze out some oil from the herb without burning my hands.

  6. So I then transfer the colander and herb to another bowl, and pour off the remaining oil/water mix. After I am done and I squeeze out all the oil I can, I will pour more boiling water over the herb while it sits in the Pyrex cup. Then once it cools I can twist the cloth and wring out the remaining oil.

  7. Your method is similar to the way I make butter. But, you simmer longer. When I make coconut oil I use a double boiler with ground decarbed bud. Simmer the bud/oil and sunflower lecithin for 3-4 hours then strain.

  8. So, typically, I put the oil/water blends in the freezer. It takes 2-4 hours for the coconut oil to garden, and 3-4 hours for the water to start freezing.
If I space out, and the water freezes, I just put the bowls in the refrigerator. The ice becomes water and the oil is still solidified.

The bottom picture is after the water is poured out.

  9. Cannabis compounds infused, solidified, coconut oil porn.
Personally I find the patterns in the hardened oil fascinating. Fluid dynamics!

  10. If you use water in your extraction then you should store the final product in the freezer and not the refrigerator for more than a few days. It will get rancid. You won't be able to use the oil in capsules because the residual water will cause them to melt. Other than that it's a pretty simple and efficient method. It reduces the godawful taste and a lot of that chlorophyll. I recommend it for beginners. :)

  11. i don’t find that to be the case but I’ll keep better track this time around and see what happens. Thanks for mentioning.
Butter I would expect that, but not coconut oil.

  12. So I break up the chunks and melt down the oil to fill small jars. 5A0881A3-9E18-43E6-A0C9-5B196ECF85A8.jpeg 06CD99CD-1675-410C-9503-83D8D2E26A1C.jpeg

  13. Unfortunately I have an eight day work week coming up on me, so I plan on testing my oil after that. I plan to try a teaspoon of oil and see what happens.

  14. I'm a light weight and use about a 1/4 teaspoon in my morning coffee. I've dosed high a few times and have regretted it.

  17. I never tried infusing honey,it sounds good though. I used to have a high tolerance before MS. Now, anything to strong and it's not an enjoyable ride.

  18. Infused honey is the best sublingual around, even better than hard candy in my opinion. And it's fast acting, within minutes sometimes. It's great for headaches and nausea and other issues where you may have trouble keeping edibles down. I can't praise it enough. :sneaky:

  19. Thanks Sam. I've made lollipops and other hard candies before and they did work well. I even shared my recipe here on GC somewhere. I'll need to run a batch of honey and see how that works for me.
