Hi guys, I am looking to make a really small bong from an IBC soda glass bottle because it would be quick and easy. I want it to have a glass bowl/stem etc instead of having one of those makeshift tin foil contraptions, so me not being familiar with bong components, was wondering if any one of you can point me in a direction as to what i need to buy and how much it is gonna cost. Buying the slide is straightforward but I know i cant just have glass on glass so Im kinda stumped. I want this to be a slide out so if you can, help me out. Thanks !
I'm not exactly sure, but I think you'd need a diamond drill bit and drill a hole the size of your downstem (9mm, 14mm, 18mm, etc) Then you could just put the downstem in, put the bowl in the downstem and youre ready to go
do you know if I will need one of those black ring looking things to go around the downstem at the point of contact with the bottle or would I be fine without it?
youll need a grommet. before you invest significant time and money into a home made id suggest checin out cheapo's at your lhs

Since you're going to need to pay for a glass stem and bowl (unless you already have an extra) and the rubber O ring, on top of a glass drill bit (which may still possibly crack your bottle) it's defiantly easier and possibly cheaper just to buy a mini glass bong that more than likely will already come with all the parts you need. Unless of course you enjoy projects and just want the satisfaction of smoking out of something you built yourself, in which case more power to ya and good luck Edit - as for prices I paid about 12 bucks for my drill bit back when I was making a few home-made pieces, and downstems and slides are usually sold separate based on the places I've been and together will run you anywhere from like 7 bucks and up - so you can either spend 20 bucks on all the parts and put the effort into building it or just buy a nice little 20 dollar mini bong
