Purified vs Tap

Discussion in 'Bongs, Dab Rigs, Bubblers, Water Pipes' started by Mr. Alaskan Thunderfuck, Mar 9, 2014.

  1. What type of water do you prefer

  2. I prefer bottled water. Sometimes you can literally smell and taste chlorine in the tap water, which is nasty when you have a nice clean piece. Plus I think bottled water is less likely to leave calcium and lime deposits on the glass.

  3. Yeah I see what you mean.

  4. I use bottled water too and won't even use tap water to clean because of the mineral stains. Cleaning takes a bit longer without using a sink though.

  6. Never gave it much of a thought but ive always used whatever water is on hand and i have noticed stains on the inside of my bong

  7. Damn lol bottle water for bong water, thats new to me at least. I use regular tap water, but the tap water where I live is quite good quality.

  8. You guys buy bottled water just for filling/cleaning bongs? America

Three words, reverse osmosis filter. Better for the planet and your wallet.

  9. Well the local tap water is awful, I actually use purified water from those giant jugs to prevent mineral stains.

  10. I drink bottled water and so do my plants.

  11. My grandma sent me this water purifying machine that costed like $4000 dollars

I was like wtf grandma, goddamn I could have bought a car instead. But I use that and it makes some pretty pure water.

  12. you talking about some bad ass R.O. filter or what?

  13. Thanks for grammar correct

I'm not exactly sure. One filter end plugs into the tap and there are two hoses. One hose clean water comes out and the other hose acidic water comes out. The clean water is made for drinking, and the acidic water is for washing dishes, clothes etc

The machine has different functions and purification settings. I don't get it, it's really Japanese.

  14. never thought about how the ph of water might effect my dishes lol, sounds pretty cool

  15. I just use tap water, I live where we have a private well so no need to worry about smelling/tasting chlorine, but I still think I'll switch to bottled.

  16. well water leaves hard water stains...f'ing hate those little bastards

i used to use a Zero Water Pitcher, but now i just buy a gallon of distilled water from grocery store

people spend hundreds on awesome glass pieces and then balk at $1 for a gallon that wont leave hard water stains...silly

  17. Acidic water would help limit hard water staining.  If you have hard water staining the recommendation is to use an acidic cleanser.

I have a small water distiller that I use for my drinking water.  But deionized water is kind of funny tasting so I pass it through a brita.  I generally use this water to fill my pieces, when washing I use tap water but final rinse with distilled to wash out the salts.  It's a bit wasteful to do the entire wash with distilled as I usually rinse my pieces out a lot.  I need to put in a RO filter since I'd like to use it for cooking and I can't make enough withy my distiller to use for that.  But I need to decide if I want to use up an entire cabinet for the holding tank due to my garabage disposal taking up so much room under the sink.

  18. I use my brita pitcher water

  19. im lucky enough to have acess to reverse osmos water thats what i use tap just leaves ugly hardwater stains that are a real bitch to get rid of
