Why not just make an apple pipe? If its a metal pen then use it as a stem. I can bet you the smoke will taste much better and you're not inhaling plastic fumes.
Just listen to em, I wish someone was there to tell me to not use my plastic bong. Did not use it very much but I'm pretty sure if fuck me up a little. The only way I would every take a hit out of anything plastic again is if I had a gun to my head.
