Progress and Pics (April 17, 2021) We were seeing a magnesium deficiency on some older leaves in our flowering plants. The last 2 waterings we added 3/4 tsp. epson salt (SMg) to 1 gal. RO water. We also treated the preteens with 2 foliar sprays (1/2 tbs SMg to 32 oz sprayer of RO water). In both cases, the results have been great. We also had a sickly Master Kush preteen that we uppotted and gave extra nutrients (1/2 tbs veg topper in RO) with her watering 5 days ago and she is turning around now. Progress and pics (April 25, 2021) We have been topping and low stress training the preteens. They seem to like it. Week 8 flowering We were hoping to boost the flowering progress with a flower finisher and molasses tea added during watering. Not sure exactly what resulted, but some flowers weren't into it- nutrient burn especially on the sativas. Otherwise, buds be swellin and we are days from harvesting. We harvested 5 plants on April 27th (day 59 of flower). Maybe a bit early, but we are running out of weed and are trying to avoid paying dispensary prices. The flowers have been drying slowly in the dark at about 65° F and 60% RH for the past 5 days and we are starting to see some frosty buildup. We took fresh cuts from the preteens on the 25th and 27th.
Thanks for the encouragement TF. This is our first offgrid grow, so I am proud of the work, but in truth it was a weak yield (about 1/2 oz per plant). Mostly because we were starting to build our spread at the same time as we were trying to get seeds started. It took a few months to get the environments right (i.e. temps and RHs for each stage). Not to mention my early stage overwatering and a couple of mini nute frys (one late veg, one late flower). Instead of LST and longer veg state, we took cuts and went to flower early so we could sex them (tossing half and their clones). The good news is, the preteens for the next round are already looking better...more LST, toppings, and enough cuts to keep it all going we hope. But summer is on the way, which means a few new challenges are too...
Progress and pics (May 7, 2021) We harvested the last of our mothers this week - the 2 BC cheeses, and they have been drying for 3 days. BC Cheeses getting frosty After about 10 days and passing the "snap test", we lightly trimmed the other mother buds and jarred them. They have been curing in the drying tent with 62%RH Boveda packs for 3 to 4 days. We open jars for 15 minutes a pop about 3 times a day and gently stir the buds before reclosing. The buds are starting to develop their unique smells: King Jack = dreamcicle Super Silver Haze = lightly fruity Girl Scout Cookies = lightly minty with a hint of cake Master Kush = oranges and gasoline BC Godbud = portabello mushrooms, dank earth Nugs a curin' We plan to keep the first round of daughters in veg state about 2 more weeks. This is about 3 waterings, so we will do a SMg (epson salt) w/RO treatment first, then a veg topper in RO on the second watering, and a plain RO just before we flip to flower to avoid N overload in early flower. The first generation daughters in veg mode We have been collecting cuts for about 12 days now and are stoked to get these 2nd generation daughters into solo cups.
