Hits very smooth with almost no drag The last pic is some Deathstar i got about a week ago, some of the dankest ive had. ***edit*** AND HERE IS THE VIDEO!***edit*** [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gpG9AGcBHW4"]YouTube- Homemade Inline with 22 tree Perc![/ame]
Damn... some of the members here are just so damn good at homemades. Normally I refuse to use homemades that utilize potentially-harmful-if-inhaled materials but I'd just have to try something like this.
seriously.... ive seen some crazy shit posted on here and it just inspires me but i just can never think of anything to make it out of......
haha yeah that was the problem i had too! but then i discovered vinyl tubing and flourescent lightbulb covers And thanks for the feedback everyone! Check out the milk vid up top
That thing is sweet. What did you use to bond all of the pieces together? Hot glue? What are you listening to in the vid?
Wow. Ive made some simple stuff out of a couple of bottles and rubber tubing, but nothing as elaborate as this. That looks awesome, like something that I wouldn't mind using for a looong time.
Wow that thing is great! I too would be hesitant to use a homemade, but lets be real a piece like this aint gonna get blown out of glass and dropped on your coffeetable anytime soon
Thank you for the feedback everyone! I think the biggest concern with drag in homemades is not allowing enough airflow directly from the beginning (at the bowl) all the way to the percolator. If you notice, the trees on the perc directly attach to the inner tube, therefore when the smoke comes up from the lower inline diffuser, it doesn't have to "funnel" down into a small central area of a tree perc, it just keeps going and continues through the trees. The only part that technically reduces airflow the most is the lower diffuser, which could have been made better in this case. Its hard to explain how to reduce drag and such, because sometimes you just get lucky, but the main consensus is to allow the largest amount of airflow through EVERY part of the piece. The tubing used for the main parts its called "flourescent lightbulb covers" or something similar; they are used to slide over bulbs before installation, and to protect people if the bulb happens to break so glass doesnt rain over everything. I found them at ACE Hardware, but im sure most hardware stores will have them. The lower diffuser was made from 1/2" vinyl tubing that I stretched across and glued in so it would stay straight (damn tubing is always twisted and shit at hardware stores), I know I could have cut some better slits, but I didnt have a dremel at the time, so I used diagonal cutters instead (hence the somewhat unequal sizes). For the perc, I happened to have these little bottles that were used for "free water test analysis" at my old work, and those fit PERFECTLY inside the lightbulb covers. So I used one of those and drilled the holes all around the top part of the bottle (remember this bottle is used as the central part of the perc), and glued the straws in. I could go into more detail, but the rest is just left to the construction of the piece, which is as hard to explain to do as it is to explain how to make good art (not saying this is art, just as a comparison). Hopefully I helped those that had a few questions about it!
