no i dont think you would need one, maybe lick/torch the bowl to avoid wood smoke, other than that you should be fine, ive used many homemade wooden pipes and none are a problem if you torch the bowl
Well no, the bowl is metal, but the howl point is wooden. My problem is this is where the resin and smoke will go and collect. This is also where it will need to be cleaned and this is also where there will be the most smell
