Method to check if metal is safe to smoke from?

Discussion in 'DIY and Homemade' started by GSN1PA360, Jun 16, 2012.

  1. Is there any way to do this? I just thought of a way to make a decent downstem for a homemade bong or a one hitter and I need to know if there's a way to test the metal to see if I can use it or not... or should I just fire it up and try it?

And don't tell me I need to buy a spoon because this is the fucking home made section...

  2. The shit you find in a garage you don't want to smoke out of dude. If you want a decent downstem go to the headshop they're like $3.. most of the stuff you'd find in the garage would be toxic and poisonous to smoke out of, mainly because it's layered with chemicals like Chrome/other finish, anti-rust shit, etc.. and when heated up they release nasty ass fumes. And most tools/shop metal pieces are made out of cheap metal and weren't designed or intended for heat.

If you liked your only body and was smart you'd know better not to use those, but if you're 12 and fiending to get high and to make a pipe and don't mind damaging yourself, go for it.

  3. Nahh man, I'm of age I have pieces it's just I was looking at a pen and it was all metal and I thought damn I could make something with this and wanted to see if I could test it to see if I could actually use it as a piece

  4. The only way to check I think is to hold a flame to it and see if smoke comes off. If nothing comes off then I'd assume it's safe. Again, glass is always better but I think it's a decent test

  5. you cant check.. even if you held a flame to it an saw no smoke there could be some shitty vapors comin off of it.
    Just follow your heart
