Looking to start with LED...dont even know where to start

  1. Whats up GC, its been a few years since ive been here, But i always got solid info from the community here. Ive been browsing the forum about LEDs, but i still cant figure out what brand/light to get. Budget really isnt a problem, im not trying to go cheap, but dont want to spend extra money for no reason.

Im going to start up another 10x10 and want to fill it with LEDs, I've ran several rooms with MH / HPS, but LEDs were shit back then and too shitty to compare. Im looking for the equivalent of putting 5 - 1000w HPS in a flower room. If anyone has links to a journal, or any personal experience, any info is much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

  2. 600watts of LED would replace a 1000HPS over a 4x4 space, so assuming you can fit 4 of those in a 10x10 (unless you plan on filling the 10x10 space with plants from wall to wall) you're looking at 2400watts of LED.

I would recommend going with HLG. Either prebuilt lamps like this HLG 600 Rspec, each could replace a 1000HPS:
    HLG 600 Rspec®

I think those are very good for the price and there is even a sale on that lamp right now. It's actually a very good price at $700 for 600watts.

You could also build it yourself and save a bit more using the Rspec panels ($79) (they also offer combos with heatsinks for $94)
    QB288 V2 Rspec Quantum Board

    and a 600w meanwell driver (~$170):
hlg-600h-54a Stock and Price by Distributor

You will also need some copper wires, connectors and materials to build a frame. Usually building a lamp like this will run you approximately $1 per watt, and why those 600w panels on sale are a really good deal right now. I would email them and see if they could offer you even a better price if you buy four.

  3. 100% agree with this right here.. another option is the qb 96v2 2x hlg qb96 for every hlg-320h-54a driver covers a 2x4 pretty good I run 2 of the setups in my 5x5.. so 4x qb96s and 2 drivers.

  4. I’ve been liking the Optic LED 650r. Two of them over a 4x8 raised bed is doing REALLY well!
Also have a few DIY QB96S that have been awesome over the years!

  5. Op: please state your ceiling height and budget, it would help a lot for advices.

  6. I forgot to mention that if you are in the uk I would go with invisible sun I am currently running one of there smaller boards right now ish265 v2 but they have a larger 4 panel setup that would be a great plug and play setup, Multiple of course.. they are equal quality to the hlg boards with good warranty.

From my experiences your best bet is Amare Tech. Not trying to sound Shilly, it's just my favorite & what I recommend. They provided the desired spectrum & efficiency to outperform the rest almost a decade ago. As time went on they got even better. Just a shame he did nothing on the mktng end. Not even much of a Social Media platform. But when it comes to results, build quality, pricing & customer satisfaction, I personally cannot find any company that comes close.
As an example. The DLC (those implementing true led grow light rules) made it so that all legit led fixtures must come with a 5 yr warranty & hit at least 1.8 umol/j. Amare has been offering this since day 1. Now at 2.8 umol/j, the most modularistic grow light available & build quality other manufacturers won't even touch because it costs to much to produce closing the gap on profit. Also the only company I've seen so far that knew how to add UVA (Aprox. 20,000 HR Chips to one pcb) all the rest will fail at less then half the fixtures life expectancies. Just when that 5yr mark runs out. Sure, that kinda shit is done on purpose by the majority but never by Amare. Along with dimmable veg + bloom channels they also have uva on a separate channel with a dimmer & x2 on/off switches. They come with a controller that does sunrise/sunset as well as full control over a the lights. These new models are called HUV's or UVH's because I pushed hard for them as well as added another nm that was never included before. The owner had been wanting to make these models but cost & tech held him back. So probably over 60,000 available spd's if I had to guess.
Below is just an example of the difference in build quality & thermal mngmt vs the Popular Fluence which there was a pile of failed units on the floor. The spectrum I'm using is the veg in pics & an example of the bloom channel. All pics are with light dimmed down. 20210406_052305.jpg 20210407_001035.jpg 20210412_211220.jpg 20210412_211236.jpg 20210412_211307.jpg 20210414_102544.jpg 20210414_102608.jpg 20210414_102658.jpg 20210414_212321.jpg 20210414_212329.jpg
Any Questions? They are Putting the old website back up for now because the new one isn't done.

  8. The new Bar-6 will have the same x3 channels functionality. Hers the demo which is x2 Channels, UBA + Canna-Spec, both on dimmers. The demo was designed to be x2 bar-3, each with their own dedicated control box. The new ones are the x3 channels instead but you can still split the light in two. Just won't have dedicated control over each side but will have the Veg/Bloom/UVA On dimmers.
The Bar-6 is twice the fixture of a Fluence or Gavita. The BAR-8 is x4 the fixture of anything I can find. Being x4 lights in one lead me to the x4 but for real, it's a German tank next to a horse n musket. 20210306_140347.jpg 20210309_031106.jpg 20210324_011357.jpg 20210324_011433.jpg 20210324_011839.jpg 20210324_012120.jpg 20210324_014731.jpg 20210414_212250.jpg
