Kief stuck all up on screen of grinder. Help!

Discussion in 'Other Smoking Accessories' started by Acidpoptart, Aug 19, 2020.

  1. So I've made this topic before, had multiple suggestions such as the ol coin trick/use knife or scissors to scrape it. So far no bueno. I do not want to wash it out and get rid of it, I want to transfer this down into my actual catcher. I'm pretty damn sure this is kief too and I'm not trippin but here is a pic of the build up. Suggestions? I'm half tempted on draining it in iso and making hash out of it that way but I've never made hash so looking for a easier route honestly.

  2. usually I use the scraper tool that came with my grinder to clear the keif out but other than at I was tryna figure out how I could clean it better cause it doesn't get it all. Maybe a toothpick could work.

  3. i've done a toothpick method too and no go, however I just took a brand new razor blade and seriously scraped the ever living shit out of it, I was afraid of ripping through the screen by the pressure I put on it though some tiny little metal shavings came with the kief it was mainly worth it. It's not perfectly clean but better than before.

  4. Maybe some grain alcohol shaken through it Like making a tincture ?

  5. I personally don't really drink anymore and am a recovering alcoholic so that'd be a no go sadly. would 90% ibu work?

  6. If your looking to clean it and its a steel screen just use a torch and smoke it right from the screen.

  7. If its for just cleaning purposes . It works great elsewhere (bongs ect) My only concern would be potential rust on the mesh if it sits to long

  8. Really? So sorta like the hotknife method and just inhale the smoke as it comes up?

  9. Naw no rust on the meshing. It's a fairly new grinder.

  10. Take a lighter to the underside of the screen. Make sure you take the hit that comes off of the burnt kief. I use a straw to inhale the smoke. It's an awesome high.

The burnt material will come off by rubbing your fingers over the screen and tapping/flicking the screen.

  11. Soak in rubbing alcohol,,then let it evaporate and scrape up ur keif

  12. I don't drink either as even a tiny amount hits me with a full blown hangover the next day.
That said I do use grain alcohol in all my Cannabis extracting just for the safety factor.
I gift RSO and Hash capsules to friends and family with various ailments and it's the best way to insure all my creations are safe and "food grade". I'd rather any remaining traces of solvent in the RSO be totally safe so I avoid ISO and Denatured for anything except tool cleaning. I do keep denatured on hand for tools and hands when harvesting as it's best for the sticky.

Of the two toxic alcohols I feel denatured is the less toxic as it is ethanol with a bitter agent or methanol added to make it unfit to drink.

Rinse screen with 190 proof everclear or denatured. Place rinse in glass pie plate. Set in sun. Scrape up when evaporated and smoke or make edible oil with. Looks like enough for a 1 person serving edible.

  13. I find that seldom drinking leaves a bad hangover where drinking each night doesn't.

  14. Clean out the holes individually with a needle! lol I'm not sure why you would even want to keep that small of an amount.

  15. I actually use either the little brush that comes with your hair clippers kit or a tooth brush works flawlessly! I laughed at my late buddy 15 years ago when I saw him using his old tooth brush but it works crazy good doesn’t trap any Kief and pokes out each hole

I see you were having some trouble with kief buildup on your grinder screen. It can be a bit stubborn sometimes, but don't worry, there are a few tricks you can try. One method is using a small brush, like a toothbrush or a paintbrush, to gently sweep away the kief from the screen. Another option is freezing your grinder for a little while and then tapping it on a hard surface to dislodge the kief. If you still want to transfer the kief into your catcher, you can try using a clean and dry toothpick or a small brush to carefully scrape it off the screen and guide it down. Just be patient and take your time. If you're interested in exploring different smoking accessories, you might want to check out https://shophighlyflavored.com/.
