Is bong really that good ?

Discussion in 'Bongs, Dab Rigs, Bubblers, Water Pipes' started by SunshineAcid, Apr 9, 2020.

  1. Hey, I'm just wondering here, I've been always the paper guy, never had a bong rip,
    But my question is,
Is it true that bongs get you high with smaller amount of weed? Cuz if i roll like a 0.5-0.8. I don't even get high at all.

  2. It hits harder in my opinion... But you will feel it more than a spliff...

  4. Bongs get you way higher then a J/blunt will.. Js/blunts waste weed imo because they're constantly burning even when you're not hitting it lol

  5. If this isn’t working you need to procure better quality Cannabis.

  6. I own 10+ pieces atm and worked at a glass gallery for years. Promise you bongs are superior. I will never stop rolling completely, but bongs are my go to for maximum efficiency.

Ends up being a cost comparison between glass price (and how clumsy you are) and price of weed you're letting burn into the air from the J.

That's for flower. If you opt to drop your dabs onto a bowl -instead- of a nail, we need to talk LOL

  7. I use a simple grav bong and I roll a j or blunt up and smoke bit by bit. I like the taste of the bacco and it hits EXTREMELY hard and you will be high instantly. The best method I have ever used.

  8. Yeah, I did, yesterday got dazed really nice from a gram

  9. Unless, you pack your bowl small. Then you don't waste anything. You work more filling it up. No big deal if your worried about money or wast of weed.

  10. He was referring to J's wasting weed because they burn even while you're not taking hits.

OP, bongs get you blasted and J's are a mild high in my opinion. I've gone back and fourth over 17 years and prefer bongs but it's not always convenient.

  11. For me it's easy, if I'm alone it's Bong hits. More than 1 person and j's are easier/faster. And the plus with a bong hit is you can dial in the EXACT amount of weed it takes to fill your lungs. Absolutely no waste. Hate to take a hit and see the bowl smoke by itself for 1 minute.

  12. Yeah does a larger bong really give you more smoke or just smoother ?
What about the multiple perc ones , I’ve never had one of those .
Bubblers are like a mini bong ?

  13. when i had my first bong hit, i rarely turn back to papers/blunts/spoonpipes now.

  14. Yes. You'll save on weed with a bong, if you can property light the bowl, and not charr the goods.

Smoking paper is sometimes more pleasurable though for me. It's both a psychological and physiological thing. The move of the hand, the paper to mouth, the smell, the experience...

A good bong rip can require one hit, while the blunt/wrap/ joint can provide several hits which gives it the illusion that you are smoking more, yet you are smoking through paper and weed.

I used to smoke a shit ton of cigarettes and smoking joints helped me cope with my quitting...

In all, it's all about perspective and preference...

  15. A joint or blunt = NA engine. Bong = turboed

But yes dude bongs for sure hit harder. There's undoubtedly a beauty to it too. Especially with some nice percs. Seeing the smoke go through the water and become smoother, the sound, the way is feels, I think part of the appeal to bongs is the whole process in of itself. :bongin:

Bong rips give a much more efficient hit. You can take bigger, deeper hits, so the exposure to your lungs is better and they absorb more goodies that would be lost smoking the same amount using lesser pieces. The water filtering the smoke makes it smoother, by removing the tar. That smoke is technically more concentrated, too. Think of drinking the same amount of alcohol with or without food, and how that hits you. A bong rip is without food. And then the chamber size/layout allows for a lot of expansion, while the airflow design with water dividing the chamber makes it so when you pull out the stem/bowl, it creates a pressure differential that essentially propels the smoke into your lungs. You gotta prime yourself for when you pull that stem out because it's like a floodgate for smoke.

That pressure situation also pulls the flame more aggressively through the weed, so it burns quickly and more thoroughly. When you watch that chamber fill up from a modest pack, you'll instantly understand why they're so effective.

You feel all of that, too... you feel it pushing huge amounts of smoke into your lungs. A really good bong rip, you will start to really feel how high you are in your face before you finish exhaling. It comes on like *snap* Or at least I get that. I feel my body getting lighter as I exhale and my face glows up with a euphoria that kind of slaps onto it like a warm washcloth. Your eyes will flash red as they glass over and squint. For your first bong rips, you won't be able to resist it. It really smacks you down. I have personally introduced many people to bongs or sat-in and not a single person took it fully in stride... even with experience they tend to hit you like you've never smoked before when done right.

The downside is that it is a bit of an intense experience. It's a bit awkward and laborious for the uninitiated to even execute the hit properly - there's technique involved, not just with working the bong, but your breathing and how you burn the weed. You have to avoid charring the weed and keep it burning evenly at the right pace to fill the chamber properly. The strain, whether you grind it, or how you break it up matters. And then the process of priming the hit and taking it in involves slightly more complicated breathing than dry pieces with carbs. The timing and execution takes practice. It's all breathing coordination and conditioning. Very few people's lungs are ready for huge bong rips... even once you get how it all works, you still have to train your lungs differently than you do for joints or blunts. There are steps to 'creating' a good hit and if you fail you can actually waste some weed.

You'll probably cough your ass off, too. Gotta cough to get off. With bongs that's really true. The other problem is cleaning, care and protection. Bongs aren't cheap. They're big and cumbersome, so they can be easy to fumble and break when stoned, which you will be if your hitting a bong! Even if they don't break, they spill, which fucking sucks... unless the water is fresh the smell is almost impossible to remove from fabric. Or maybe you pull out the hot stem wrong and break it off inside, and then it gets stuck in the resin. Which reminds me, cleaning them sucks. You have to clean out the rez gunk and change the water very frequently to avoid the pervasively swampy smell and taste. The water really needs to be changed after a couple of seshes and if you're smoking all day, may even need a little cleaning already. Skimping on it usually goes poorly. A rip from a clean bong tastes like you've probably never tasted weed before - it's actually amazing. A somewhat dirty bong... not so much. That water can get so disgusting. It's like nasty algae water... which is a thing. Algae can grow in them if you don't clean regularly, even if you use clean water. Probably not a great thing to inhale, those algae spores.

It will also blow your tolerance over time. Most people I know who smoke bongs use them pretty much exclusively. They also keep 2-3 in rotation so when one gets dirty, they can switch to another. And I think it's because with their tolerance anything less is a waste of weed. It's like a lesser form of dabout.

For 'traditional' smoking the hierarchy is something like bongs > bubblers > steamrollers > bowls > joints... just in terms of efficiency. I love joints. I might smoke those as my main option under different circumstances, but they do go through a lot of weed for the amount of sessions you get. You're a papers guy too... the best way I can explain it to you is that the same amount of weed that goes in a pinner rolled up on a single (the wider packs with two small stacks of papers,) will get you much higher for longer if packed into one big bong rip... which is actually doable. Like, if the pinner gets you a solid buzz, the bong equivalent get you instantly lit as fuck.

...you really ought to just try it when you have a chance. Definitely worth the trouble! Just not for everyone.

  17. Sometimes I want to chill on a joint or blunt outside in my yard.
Sometimes I just want a quick hit out of my bong to get where I want.
Sometimes I'll take a small amount of edibles and relax all day doing nothing.

    Do em all.

    I enjoy getting high
