are you talking about for the downstem? i used a dremel with a cone shaped sanding bit on it, and i put the base under water and went at it for a few hours trying really hard not to crack it :]
HAHAHA okay so at first i used just hot glue, but allot of it. once i added enough to make it air tight i just left it like that. what i found out is that something happened inside the bong, maybe the combo of smoke and water idk but something happened to make the glue come undone, resulting in the base and tube separation and 3 broken bongs!! :'[. so now i use hot glue and superglue, i apply the hot glue then the super glue on top, then put my pieces together
