Best of luck! Also don't forget to have cool people with you when you smoke your weed. By "cool people" I mean your best friends, people you can really trust to look out for you and catch you when you fall. I am imagining your parents don't know you're going to smoke weed. Idk how the situation is but if you ever feel comfortable talking to them about it, I highly recommend it. You are very young to try weed. It's an amazing plant, but it can be very strong and you might not be prepared for its effects. That's why I was saying that about awesome friends to hang out with you. But definitely think about talking to an adult you can trust about this. I'm very glad you came here but if you know an adult in real life, a relative or parent, that's even better imo.
SAY IT LOUD AND PROUD! I smoke weed! WTF you gonna do about it? Don't lie to your md they heard it all before. You are only hurting yourself by lying to them.
Maybe. I think it was a mistake when I came out of the closet and told my doc I smoked pot. Now it's in my chart and each time I have a procedure, such as an endoscopy, they drug test me. When I was having heart rhythm problems (MFAT) the ER drug tested me, not that I blame them for that one. I told them I was a pothead and they heard "illicit drug user". Honestly isn't always the best policy. If using cannabis actually mattered, medically, I might think differently. And it damn sure isn't going to matter for a dental procedure.
OOOH they put it on your permanent record huh? PERMANENT aint as long as it used to be for some of us. It's a PIA but it's their game, don't let it be yours. They work for you, it's their job to find a work around if needed. My last doc visit he was going on about drinking, as I left I told him "I'm glad I didn't tell you about the weed. You have to be informed of drug tests & can refuse it & face whatever consequences. Your health is more important than your record IMO.
I don't really care if they drug test me, I have nothing more to hide, what bothers me is after I was honest about being a pothead, they no longer take me at my word. I can't think of a single reason docs would need to know I'm a pothead.
LOL it's not that they don't believe you are a pot head (THEY KNOW IT) LOL., they test anyway for whatever reason (insurance req't likely). There are things they know that we do not, hopefully. I can only see it as a major concern for lung issues or anesthesiologists. BUT I don't know everything. When & if, God forbid, you have ANY serious medical issue it's better for the docs to have too much info than not enough.
Your probably right but giving too much info to my docs seems to confuse them, so they stop listening. I don't think pot use even matters with anesthesia. They titrate those kind of meds for effect.
Confuse them? LOL true dat but we got many more years of experience in life. IME they missed out on social skills while in years of school??? Mine was going on & on about my medulla oblomgata, & I'm like doc it's just ear wax! Removed & 100% better.
Funny you mention ear wax. I developed an ear infection July 4th, my doc said my ear was full of wax and he couldn't see my eardrum so he referred me to ENT where the next available appointment was at the end of September. The ENT said my problem was a fungal infection of my outer ear canal and prescribed an antifungal and antibiotic ear drops and come back in a month but when I returned a student doc said the culture came back negative for bacteria and fugus both but when she looked in my ear, she couldn't see wax or my eardrum, all she could see was a fucking ear polyp which had grown thru a hole in my eardrum. Now I can't hear with my left ear because of delayed treatment. Maybe I should have mentioned my cannabis use.
Again, What do we know? I know out is always better than in when it comes to MY medical treatments. Remove the wax THEN the brainiacs can study it ???
They may be testing him to see if he is using any other illegal drugs especially if he has an old school doctor in a state that is yet to legalize as they grew up with the old a drug is a drug is a drug mindset and you will never change there mind so don't bother trying.
Looking for other drugs is exactly what they are doing, I mean, why test for pot when I told them I'm a pothead? That's what bugs me about it. I tell them I smoke pot and they suspect I may be taking shit I'm not telling them about. Being honest with them makes them suspicious.
Yep. I had doctors back in Iowa that were that way and it pissed me off because they never believe a word you say in reality they always just assume everyone is lying to them in some way. I hate those type of doctors.
Probably everyone does lies to them about something. Maybe the ER docs would like drug tests to be SOP for everyone but insurance companies won't pay for it unless there's a reason it's necessary. Telling them I partake gave them reason to test and now my insurance company probably has it in their records. I think I may be carrying this too far. My rep is already in the shitter after a little run in with the DEA and the local sheriff. Never mind.
I just noticed the "Vox Clamantis in Deserto" which translates to "a voice calling in the wilderness" which is used in the Bible a few times but I imagine you are just quoting good old Cactus Jack I am sure.
You're damn close. Edward Abbey was my hero for years and sometimes referred to himself as Cactus Ed. One of his non-fiction books was Vox Clamantis in Deserto which was a collection of Abbey's thoughts on various issues and, IMO, wasn't his best work but did offer a lot of food for thought. I read his books while backpacking in the canyons of northern Arizona and southern Utah in the 1980s and 90s and it gave me a new perspective on life. Ed Abbey changed me thru his writings. I haven't re-read his books in probably 20 years and now my eyes and short term memory are too far gone to read books. Maybe I'll see if any of his books are available recorded. I'd love to read The Fool's Progress again, I consider it to be a fictionalized autobiography of his life and maybe his best work.
