  2. yes, your dentist has to do an oral and anal swab before the procedure, and cannabis can be detected.

  5. @tessayoungscott As long as you don't reek from smoking, you'll be fine, hon. If you worry about an oral test (very unlikely), just brush your teeth and the inside of your mouth very well and use an alcohol-based mouthwash.

@Ultramaxx Yes, smoking cannabis can be bad for your dental health. "Cottonmouth" allows bacteria to build up in your mouth, potentially causing cavities and other dental problems. However, this can be countered by simply brushing your teeth more often.

Interestingly, CBD has been shown to have antibacterial properties and a few CBD mouthwashes are now on the market.

  7. Yes, you are being paranoid, but if you are not in a "legal" state, it can be a good way to keep yourself out of trouble. By being a cautious person, I have managed to use cannabis for almost 55 years without being arrested once.

If you were having an extraction, caution would be called for, but braces? No prob. Just remember to keep them, and your teeth, CLEAN! Cottonmouth (a dry mouth from smoking cannabis) can make you more prone to cavities.

  8. Hi Tessa, welcome to Grasscity. Since you just smoked for your first time how did it go? Were you satisfied with your high or was it unpleasant? I'd love to hear what you think of pot now that you've tried it, did it met your expectations?

  11. @Cactus Ed well I haven’t tried it yet, i have a party to go to the day after and im supposed to do it there, sadly im getting braces the very next day

  12. When you do try it I'd love hearing your opinion. You can post your experience in this thread.

Smoking too much is unpleasant so don't try to keep up with experienced smokers, just smoke a little and stop for 10 min or so to let it soak in before trying more.

  18. Smoking weed before getting braces shouldn't directly impact the procedure, but it's important to be honest with your dentist about your habits for your overall oral health. They won't judge, just want to provide the best care!
