So I made a mini homemade bong a few days ago. I can't get to a headshop anytime soon and I don't have any glass. I decided to make a mini bong and it turned out pretty good. It has a slide and it's about 6 1/2 inches tall. The only thing i'm worried about is the tape i used to put the bowl and downstem together. the bowl is made out of a socket and the stem out of a zebra mechanical pencil. I used duct tape. I haven't smoked out of it yet because I'm feeling sorta iffy about the duct tape. Will it end up burning when I'm smoking it? If so, what should i use to put them together, airtight. Also, i used the mesh out of apple headphones as a screen. is that safe? i've burned it for a while until it's turned red. should i just put some bud at the bottom to close the hole instead of using the homemade screen? the headphones are great screens. i used them a ton before i got glass. you can get screens like that from faucets too. and i think the duct tape is fine. if your still scared try using a few rubber bands. i always used masking tape lol
it's probably safe for a few uses but i wouldnt smoke out of it regularly. as for the headphones, the metal screen probably had a polymer coating on it to protect from rust until you burned it off........ next time, if you really need a screen, hold it with pliers and burn the shit out of it before you put it in the bowl
