So I own a small recylcer bong and I dump the water from it after each use. But because its a smaller bong I can never get all the water out, there is usually drops all over the side. And my question is how often should I clean it because it stays wet for longer after I use it?
some people are anal about it and clean all the time, other people almost never clean their bong. truth is clean it when you feel like it's starting to get dirty. keep in mind that it will be easier to clean if you do it often. and a clean bong generally has a better taste.
I dump the water out as soon as I am done smoking. I clean it and the ash catcher about every 3 days. It's so much easier if I do it. Since I have discovered "Mean Green" cleaning the bong is just pouring Mean Green in before bed and rinsing it out in the morning. I save the Mean Green in a 2-liter bottle. That stuff is amazing and it was cheap for a gallon of it.
I use my Delta-9 "Flask" Bong daily, so I empty and rinse after use and I use Alcohol swabs to keep mouthpiece sanitary. I also use 1 Gallon Freezer Bag/Alcohol to completely clean the Bong monthly. Seems like alot of work but Bacteria will grow and creep up the mouthpiece If you don't keep your Bong clean, and It will make you sick. Throwaway Plastic Food Containers are Great for Cleaning small Pipes too.
Bacteria in stagnant water can make you really sick and almost everyone I know is of the "chill out" mentality and can't be bothered to clean a pipe. I'm not being anal. Your pipe smells like your girlfriend's asshole and I don't have any throat condoms.
I personally clean my glass with salt and 91% isopropyl alcohol about 2 or 3 times a week. I don't like to think of the amount of money I spent on my rigs, drop downs, bangers, nectar collector, or joint size converter so I make it habit to keep my glass like new. if you guys want a pro tip on cleaning your bong. plug the stem and drop in some dish washer detergent packs. it works especially well for tough stains, and hard water build up. iso wont even touch hard water.

I recommend if you can find Mean Green, get it. It's not expensive and it works better than ISo. I got it in the hardware dept at Walmart. It's just a soapy degreaser and it's non toxic.

I like it when you can barely see through the water and it's really hard to pull through cause the res is all built up in the down stem. That's the only time I even think about drinking the water.

I would think dumping the water out and then running really hot water then shaking it would be fine for about 3 times. Then you should clean it with iso and salt.
I'm with my bottle brush and ISO for a very quick clean also this is about my 40th bong once again bought for ease of use and cleaning leaving those expensive complicated narrow type bongs to the noobs ...lol
Clean at least once a week... I use hot water first then onto coarse sea salt mixed with 91% Iso Alcohol. A 5 minute shake and rinse should definitely do the trick!
