Homemade wood pipe, work in progress but still smokeable. Any tips and suggestions?

  1. So about a month ago I started making this wooden pipe I called Reginald. Last weekend I finished drilling at least the general bowl and my friend and I smoked out of it. For a screen I used a cut out bit of a window/door screen I found at my grandma's house but that was too big and I didn't feel safe using it. I was going to try and use a screen from an earbud but when I held it to a flame it turned black and smoke came off of it. I don't know if it's just the glue and earwax burning or if it's unsafe aluminum. Also what would be a good thing to soak it in to strengthen it without making it toxic, like olive oil was what I wanted to try but I don't know. I'll post pictures later.

  2. go buy some steel screens for $1.

  3. and while you're at it.. buy a real pipe

  4. Buy some screens and do some research on what will strengthen the wood and isnt toxic or harmful or flammable
    good luck :smoke:

  5. what do you think that they had before glass and metal pipes? it was wood and soapstone. but op just a piece of nug to plug the hole, air will go though but not pot

My glass pipe broke and while I wait to get a new one (don't have a credit card and headshop in our town closed) I wanted to make one that was natural and that I made with my own 2 hands. I named it Reginald because that's my grandpa's name (I made it with his tools) and plus I decided it would mainly be used for reg (haha) Although all I've smoked from it is dank xD
