Got bored and made a quick design for a homemade vape. Let me know what yall think. I know its not very detailed, its just meant to be a rough outline.
im in the process of acquiring the wood for the base now. i want to get some oak or some nice wood i can put a finish on. ill post measurements for everything once i get it made.
So I've been inspired to make this diy vaporizer. I went out and bought a dimming switch but I'm kind of confused as to the wiring of it. Attached are pictures of the dimming switch, the instructions, and the soldering iron cord. I have a cheap 3-prong 15w soldering iron from radio shack. There are 3 individual wires that make the cord, and one says ground Any help would be much appreciated!
Ah OK I figured it out with a little bit of research. here's a link with good instructions. The instructions are for a 2 prong cord; an additional step will need to be taken to connect the green wire to ground. All you need to do is strip the ground wires from the cut cords and brade them together with the green wire, twisting them clockwise, and then screwing the wirenut clockwise. I'm going to attempt this within the next couple of days ALSO According to the schematic, it looks like the dimmer switch is wired straight to the soldering iron. I think an easier and more elegant solution would be to cut a 12ft 3-prong extension cord and wire the dimmer switch to that. This will leave your soldering iron cord intact
I think your design is ingenious. I would proto-type it in plywood so that you can iron out design flaws that you might have before committing to the good wood. JMO.
I did the same things just with pvc pipe, a small fish bowl, soldering iron,bowl and a small rubber tube for the whip. No adjustment knob or anything. Worked ok. I'm sure yours will be a lot better
I love the idea of using a soldering iron for the heating element. Ive thought of a project like this but didn't know what to use for heating but that is ingenious.
