About a month ago i wanted to try a vaporizer really bad and being how i'm good at making random bongs and pipes i thought i would try making a vaporizer. I looked all over the internet but couldn't find much info. I saw the light bulb ones and didnt wanna look like a crack head or have broken glass fly across my room. But then i got an idea for how to heat it safely. A good old lava lamp. i looked into it and they get just hot enough to make the vapor. I ended up using an old one from the 70's with a bit bigger bulb then your current lava lamps. This one also had a bowl that went around half way up the base. i realized this would be perfect to hold a tank of some sort to contain the vapor. The first version i came up with was a piece of foil shaped to the top of the bulb with a little bowl shaped part in the middle. the foil heats up super fast and distributes the heat across the buds. and the top half of a too liter sitting on the edge of the lamp. This worked but didnt seal well and didnt hold much vapor plus the bowl was very easy to knock off the bulb. The second and current version has the foil shaped over the bowl and onto the edge of the lamp so it wont move. For the tank i used all of a two liter but the bottom of it so it could sit on the bowl and hold more vapor plus i added a carb with a stopper to make hitting much easier. Me and my friends love it. I figured this is too good of an idea to keep to my self so i decided to share it with you guys. if you have any questions feel free to ask.
I would but since its not air tight it doesn't fill up as nice as a real one. but for pretty much a dollar for the two liter its not bad.
I'm going to try this with my broken tube instead of a 2 liter, it should be air tight this is a kick ass idea, have you ever had problems with the foil melting to the bulb?
I made a lightbulb vape once, my friend ripped it and coughed his dick off for ten hours lol I made it professionally but I think he just burnt the bud. I threw it away shortly after that.
Decided i should give an update on this. I finally got around to sealing every where it could possibly leak. This thing is a masterpiece now. Me and two friends got ripped off a bowl full in this then one hit out of a bong. Its almost like the THC taken in from the vape doesn't effect you til you smoke out of a bowl, bong, blunt, etc. but when it hits you. OMG.
