So, a few weeks ago my Alex K showerhead downstem broke. I got a replacement for my bong, and the broken downstem was just sitting in a box.

I am glad I saved the broken pieces, because I used it to craft an awesome bubbler. The first version of the bubbler was sloppy and a 15 minute job because I needed a piece and was bored. The second version is much better, and way more thought out.

I love this piece because it hits amazingly smooth for how easy it is to make, rebuild, and find replacement parts for. I can easily put all the components needed to make this inside the plastic tube, and as long as water is nearby I have a really great piece to smoke out of. This bubbler hits smoother than most of my friends bongs, and you can take some pretty big rips too.

The parts from the downstem I salvaged were the joint( where the slide goes) and the showerhead itself. I taped neatly all the edges where the glass broke. I used a spare plastic lid, trimmed it, and use it to hold the downstem perfectly in the middle. I use the paperclip on the inside of the tube to make sure the plastic disk stays put.

This is a work in progress and eventually I plan to make a complete glass version. Either way, this bubbler gives amazing hits (Not as well as my bong, but the bong isn't portable or cheap.) It rips even better when I use my disk slide.

  2. not bad man, iv gone right into the side of water bottles with broken off downstems for a quick road piece

  3. I made a bong using a container just like that once but i put the stem in the side so the large top opening could be the mouthpeice. I also cut a hole in the lid so if you needed a smaller mouthpeice you could just put the lid on. I didnt use any legit bong parts tho.
