Ive just bought 12 real shark's teeth off eBay and am planning to make a grinder the problem is i dont know wether to make it out of wood or hollow out a plastic grinder and use the shell. I'm also not sure about using adhesive (or some glue) which may transfer to the grinded bud. Can anyone help me with my questions and has this ever been attempted before? Much appreciate any help
I don't know how you're gonna do it but holy fuck it'll be sweet when it's done. I might suggest using something like casting resin, that you can stick the teeth into while it's soft but will harden enough not to break later. Maybe this stuff: TAP Isophthalic High-Strength Resin: TAP Plastics
That's an awesome idea. Here in Myrtle, there are tons of shark teeth, the locals can find a few within a couple of mins. I have no damn clue how you're gonna get that done, but post pics. I might try to make one, i'll post pics here if/when I do. Good idea though, +rep
Ill take pictures and make a guide whilst im making it for you guys if it turns out good... i'll have to sketch up some drawings and make sure i get the alignment of the teeth right so it actually turns. Lots of planning for an awesome result methinks
holy shit dude that would be awesome. maybe try using wood and cutting slits in it for the teeth. that would look sick. especially with some carving/wood burned design on the top.
Ive decided to use make 2 circle, smooth wooden blocks and attach the teeth in marked positions, then attach the "walls" of the grinder in the form of wooden rings (I'm thinking 3" embroidary rings and sanding to perfect fit). This seems the best way to go, i'm going to have to do some annotated diagrams
Hopefully this will be an injury free project... Haha Edit: This is a picture of the shark teeth ive purchased. I can't work out how long the base's will be to map the teeth... i dont want interferance as i turn it.
with wood you could just cut a slot for the tooth to sit in and then fasten it. that way only the sharp part of the tooth would be exposed
to make it doubly secure you could drill little holes and wire it in prior to resin. that way there is no chance of it coming apart. unless a tooth breaks or something
Hmm thats a good idea, it would also help with visualising the positioning... I tried to map the teeth but im too stoned...
you might wanna wait till sober so that this thing doesnt fall apart. placement will be crucial since the teeth are flat it will be easy for them to catch on one another as it turns
Ive gotta wait at least 2 days for my teeth to arrive! until then i'll be making the shell so i have plenty of time for placement. The teeth are all between 15-17 mm tall, and they will be sunken in the wood, so the sides being 15 and 14mm is perfect so the teeth wont stick out above the sides
