made a few pipes, recently started properly finishing the wood to get a nice effect. First set of pics is the first pipe i ever made, carved out of piece of Cherry, taken from the garden. Second pipe is made of two parts, has a plate in the bowl with holes punched in it to prevent small parts being sucked through, works best with hash though. Last pipe is modeled off pipes from Lord of the Rings, has a copper ring to join the two parts, however i wasnt happy with the finish around the ring where i used wood filler, and plan to make an improved version over Christmas, when i can get back in the workshop
I like the work, but am I only seeing two pipes? I really want to get into this craft, you're inspiring me I just saw your post count, welcome to the forum my man!
Thanks for the welcome, normally hesitant about joining forums, they can often be filled with arrogant people, not here though, just further proof of the wonders of weed. There should be three pipes, on in light wood with designs on, one in dark with a metal bowl, and then then the long stemmed one. As for getting into it, defiantly do, nothing beats smoking out of a homemade for the first time.
Oh i got you man, I thought the blonde wood with the designs was a precursor to the second pipe. DAMN I really want to carve some pipes, what is the best wood for pipes do you think?

Looks good man, I worked in a cabinet shop for 7 years and never made a pipe outta wood, kinda regretting it now that I see yours
Maybe its just human nature for some people then. As for the question regarding woods, its really a question of what your going for. Hard woods tend to look the best when finished and will stand up to wear and tear well, but they are bloody tough to work with, spent many hours sanding down the body of that last pipe. My favorites at the moment are Cherry, Apple or Pear as there is plenty in my garden, Ash can also look really nice too.
