Hey guys! Today I decided to make a pipe out of some cherry wood I had laying around. I started off by making a design on graph paper. Next I cut it out with the bandsaw. I then drilled the bowl and stem on the drill press. After that, I sanded it with the belt sander and by hand, using from 100 grit down to wetpaper. I then torched it with my acetylene torch, and re-sanded everything with wetpaper. To finish it I went ahead and stained it. (Just olive oil, didn't want to use any possibly dangerous chemicals) It is one piece of wood, and I have named it Julie. Anyway, after all my hard work, here is my mini pipe. About to go christen it. Peace blades. PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR OPINION ON IT
Very nice, maybe improve the bowl by making it more of a cone shape so it burns evenly down to the last few hits. Look up different woods that are best for pipes, dense hardwood like cherry is good. Maybe carve symbols and designs into it to make it look cooler. Just suggestions, it looks great the way it is.
I wanted to make it a cone shape but I left my dremel at someone's house. I was going to make it like a parabolic dome, kind of like the top half of an egg shell. I plan on making lots of small pipes since I have access to the tools, I may give some out idk yet. I may order some briar and some hickory wood. Expensive though..
You should talk to the mods about opening a business on here. They should make a "Smoke 'n' Shop" section where you could sell these.
Man they are so cool! I wish I could find pipes like that at my local head shop! So natural looking. Really good job man! 10/10!
The charring on this pipe is out of being lazy. You are suppose to hit your wood pipes with some heat so it doesn't burn as quickly while using it. I just didn't want to spend another hour getting rid of marks from the torch.
Looks cool man. Maybe sand in some odd spots to make it even more unique. Or scratch a design away, kinda like engraving. This is why I don't make stuff for myself anymore. Never perfect enough.
