I wanted to make a wood pipe but the last one i made was made out of pine and when pine burns it releases a Resin that coats the inside of your lungs effectively sending you to the ER within one bowl (Scary shit). So i trashed it and found some Mahogany lying around which is a Hardwood so it will not burn or kill you like Pine (Soft Wood) I am not staining this pipe since it looks great without stain. I already have the bowl drilled and a smaller hole that will connect with the Stem (A small metal tube) and i have the rest of the pipe planned out with a Pencil.
Drill press,Band Saw,and maybe a type of mounted sander after i have it all drilled and cut im going to use the electric sander to get through the bulk of it while sanding it by hand to get it right without fucking it up
i was thinking about trying to make one on a drill press, but its so much easier for me to turn them on a lathe
Yes but its REALLY easy to fuck your shit up on a lathe i wrong move and you just broke your pipe before the first smoke. Making one on a band saw with a little bit of sand paper is the way to go.
so yours is going to be cubed? and then sand the rest off? i guess it just depends which machine you are more comfotable with. i would be more afraid of screwing up on the bansaw/sanding

I used a metal peice of pen that i hammered down if you have any zebra pens around the house take the metal peice off that hit the top with a hammer until its the right size then turn it sideways and hit it to make it flat.
