Homemade Glass Bubbler

Discussion in 'DIY and Homemade' started by Bunyohead247, May 11, 2012.

  1. The way i got started smoking was first making homemade glass bongs then selling them or giving em to my friends then sure enough i started burnin the ganj.

This is a recent one i made. I used a 1$ glass bottle from michaels craftstore, a glass drill bit to make a hole in the glass, two metal tubes from ace hardware that perfectly slide and a small black o ring. I drilled the hole till i could fit the bigger tube in snuggly then sawed it off just over the top of the glass. From there i made the shooter from the smaller tube, a chunk of wood i widdled to fit on it and a good size socket. I sealed it all up with 3200 marine sealant (the only kind of sealant that lasts and works) with the o ring on the downstem. The flame only comes in contact with wood and metal btw and ive had this bubbler for over a year

Sometimes you do when you pull out the shooter but usually you dont

  4. If i were you id either work on making a splash gaurd or making a small tube to fit on the top of it that you can remove and keep it in your pocket. I think i film canister or two would work nicely.

Yaaaa but ive been trying to use no-ghetto type materials lately. I might use pvc pipe and a big gasket to hookup to the mouth piece tho

  6. Way to not use ghetto materials! lol
Why not invest in a glass blowing set up, you obviously arnt making shabby homemade pieces and you must like making the shit if you were making em for friends before you even started smoking.. Just a though.

Thanks i probably will try glass blowing after a while but idk my homemade pieces have a uniqueness to them haha

  8. Props! I'm a craftsman too and I take pride in choosing non ghetto materials to make quality pieces at low prices
Right now im almost finished with a wine bottle bong with 5arm downstem and an ashcatcher and Im making a gas mask attachment for it with clear vynil tubing and a professional painters mask.
    Practice makesbetter!

  12. what type of wood did u use? how has it lasted?

I used a regular 2x4, cut it with a dremel and put a screen in the bowl so the flame never really burns the wood. Its lasted a good long time but if the screen breaks through the flam starts eating away at the wood

  14. sad to say, it is cost to blame...ya, cost is what blocks some people...
400ish for a torch head (plus costly gear if you go premix types)
400ish for an annealing kiln (just for a small one, no foot long bongs in these little guys)
COST OF OTHER TOOLS AND GLASS....:(

ya...so easy to just jump in there to blow glass pipes...(grumble grumble...)

But I do suggest it. In the long run a surface mix torch and kiln set up will be able to pay for itself after some time..and effort.;)

  15. as i said, Invest, not squander
