Homemade Deli Container MADNESS! Triple Chamber!

Discussion in 'DIY and Homemade' started by sleepy96, Apr 13, 2011.

  1. These deli containers are perfect for multi-chamber bongs! This thing has a showerhead on the bottom, a (I guess you could call it) dome perc in the middle, and another showerhead on the top.

Had this idea pop into my head, and decided to go for it. Its a little hard to clear due to the size, but other than that, works pretty well! :bongin:

I decided to throw in a few macros with my ghetto lens on a Kodak as well, enjoy! :D

  2. Nice.
Did a good job clearing that hoot aswell.
I just don't get the second or two pause before clearing it.
Was it you that stoped inhaling or a problem with this wonderful creation?
    STAY HIGH

  3. ^im thinking it was him exhaling and getting ready to take the whole hit cuz he said it was hard to clear, so it prob takes more than an average amount of inhalation

  4. You can definitely tell it takes a while to clear, because of how long it takes for the top chamber to even start filling. It looks like it works great, but you'll cut down on drag quite a bit if you find a container with a smaller diameter. I find VOSS water bottles are my favorite to use for homemades, because I can glue the caps together to make chambers, and it's so easy to install showerheads, domes, gridded tophats, etc into those. I made a 3 chamber VOSS, that had an A/C, a main chamber that had two tubes running into it both diffused, and then the top perc was a gridded tophat. If I didn't wanna use the top perc (say I was on the go), I could always unscrew it and save it for later. I could even take it off with the water still in it.

But I remember my early homemades were all made using bottles that were huge or containers like this. We all gotta learn somehow right?

  5. i hate your music.

but thats a sick home made

  6. That's a pretty cool idea, but it does look like it needs some work to get it to clear a bit better.

  7. dude!! we have thousands of those containers at my job hahahaha
    no fucking way!!

  8. Hahaha nice music bro....

Yeah exactly! If you look in my other posts, I have many other, better homemades. This was merely to test the design I had in my head. But Ill take your advice on the VOSS bottles, ill try and find some of those! :smoke:

Haha yeah death metal isnt for everyone, but thanks! :smoke:

You do?! Where do you work? lol

  10. Def not death metal, thats grindcore lol.

  11. Yea I like this design I might steal the bottom chamber you made and do it with a VOSS this summer. And remake a better version of my top perc. I love making super functional homemades that people actually would rather try than my glass pieces. However, don't get me wrong I LOVE glass. I just like to show off what my own mind can create using my two hands.

I would say to help a bit with your current design don't leave so much room for smoke to fill up before diffusing. I know having that chamber helps retain flavor but it's adding drag and making it clear slower. Also watch how much the water level in the bottom chamber moves as you hit and watch it reset when you stop pulling. That means less water is needed. Try filling it up so the water is 1/8" - 1/4" above where the perc starts. That way when you start pulling and it pulls water above that waterline it isn't moving as much water. This will cut back on chug/drag, and make it clear faster.

I can definitely tell you have a mind for designing the perc. You just need to work out the kinks that make it more functional.

Basically my tips is just that when you have a perc like that that causes a lot of water displacement before going, it's going to cause more drag if more water must be displaced. Another thing I read on that type of perc is that the inside tube should have as much volume as the space around it. Now you gotta remember that when trying to find something that will be the right specifications. You need to find the area of the inner tube just like you find the area of a circle. Then for the outer space around that tube, you measure the area of the entire outer tube and then subtract it from the inner tube, and they should be close to equal. It'll actually be better if the inner tube is slightly more volume than the outer tube.

This is all to reduce drag, because it helps the water move better.

This video actually explains how to get the most effective showercap [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lF97ShEmqvg&feature=fvwrel]YouTube - Manifest Glassworks Diffuser Cap Review[/ame]

If it's done like that then the water only needs to be filled up half-way up the showercap, because in theory when you pull in the water from outside the showercap it will double the volume of the water that was already sitting in the cap. And that will get the water to fill the entire cap and no more.

There are a lot of other variables to think about. But just remember that the water doesn't add or subtract itself, and once you create the space for the smoke and the water, the math explains itself. Of course when I say things like they should be equal or the water should be about half way, those are really just how things would be in a perfect world.

If your design functions slightly different it'll be fine as long as it functions, but if you could design everything with perfect measurements, those are the most ideal conditions you could have.

  12. According to their youtube video, they are "Deathgrind", so I guess we are both right :hello:

Thanks for that info! I DO have an understanding of how percolators work and what IS an efficient design. I will emphasize again that this was nowhere near well thought out, and was just an experiment. :p

You gotta remember that I wasn't designing this to be the perfect bong, because I wouldn't just be putting all the same size containers in it anyways. It was mostly for ease of making it, and it only took a few hours. I realize it has some huge chambers, and this would definitely not be my daily piece. Unlike this one ;): http://forum.grasscity.com/toking-t...lit-inline-32-slit-dome-perc.html#post8015223

The chambers on this would need to be smaller to work effectively, but I had an abundance of deli containers, so it was worth a shot! Definitely doesn't work as well as some of my others, but still works, and doesn't leak! :smoke:
