Here is the story: I want to make a cool homemade pipe out of clay. I know that some clay isnt healthy to smoke out of, but some is. I want to get some that i can harden in my oven, because i don't have access to a kiln. Any suggestions of a brand or type of clay? Any ideas on making it?
If you don't have a kiln you may be in trouble. A lot of clays can dry in an oven, but will be porous and absorb water. From my experiences, you need to glaze the clay, and I'm not sure if you can do that without a kiln. Good luck though.

You can smoke out of a polymer clay pipe I've read, you just cant have the heat in direct contact with the clay, toxic and all that good and lovely stuff. Im planning on making my own pipe out of PC, but Im making it arround a metal pipe for safety.
theres some relatively good terracotta oven bake clay i saw and the glaze is all chemicals if the oven bake isnt good i'll just have my buddy in the art class make one. He just wants me to pay him because he could get expelled if they caught him making a pipe (Catholic school ftl) and the old "it's for my dad" routine doesnt work, even if you are old enogh to smoke tobacco ( blech) Ps: sorry for the rambling
