Hi GC... I'm thinking about making a home made bong or bubbler since I have no access to a head shop in my town and shipping rates to my country (Mexico) are absurd... This bubbler will be my official smoking device, so I want something nice. I really don't want to use a plastic bottle, so the design I'm aiming for is something with a hose and bowl at the top, kind of like this: I picked up a glass jar just like this one, I think it will work: I'll most likely use a clear plastic aquarium hose as the hose. However, regarding stem and bowl, I've heard brass and copper are bad for a bowl and that plastic tube is bad for a stem. What things that I would be able to find in a hardware store (remember no head shop) would work for a bowl and stem and be safe? Regarding the screen, I was thinking about the round metal mesh things that go in the tip of the sink faucet. Will this work? I heard aluminum foil is bad for you too. What other tips can you give me? Thanks in advance for your help! Edit: I need something small which is easy to carry around and hide... The glass jar I picked up is about 7 inches (20 cm) tall.
Okay this is a good one.... i definitely like your glass jar idea. i think the best way to go is a cork and some pipe for your bowl. Metal is okay for bowl material, as long as you get the right kind. Stainless steel is always good. I would check the nearest home supply store and look for metal piping. The best way to accomplish what you want for your glass jar pipe is to get a cork, drill two holes in it. one hole will be for your aquarium tubing, the next will be for your slide. Try to get two pieces of metal for the slide, one that fits inside the other. That way, you won't have to worry about making a toke hole.
